We all sit around and talk about congress running rampant, but what do we really do about it. I know many of you write your reps and senators but how many of you don't? If we don't lean on these people they won't hear us and they won't respond. They will continue to press THEIR own personal agenda. Let's make this simple. I challenge each of you to send a letter via e-mail to both our senators on Cap and Trade. I've done the work and posted a sample below. Feel free to modify it. Also feel free to send it to other state senators as well. So, here we go:
1. Copy the letter and modify it if you desire. 2. Send it to both senators. It's easy. Click on the links below the T-shirts along the left side of your screen "Political Action Contact" 3. Fill out the form and paste your letter 4. Post a response in this thread to let every one know you've done it 5. There are over 400 VGOF members. Lets try to get at least 100 to do this.
I know we're all concerned about our 2nd Amendment rights but there are other issues too. Let's work together and pick them off one by one starting with this one.
------------------sample letter below-------------------- Dear Senator xxxx I urge you to carefully consider your vote on the upcoming Cap and Trade bill (H.R.2454 American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009). If ACES is passed into law, energy producers and manufactures will be severely affected by these caps and the increased cost will be passed to American citizens through higher prices. Also, many companies have publicly stated that they will move their operations off-shore to foreign interests. This is certainly not in the best interest for our country. As you know, we are facing a national average of 10% unemployment and suffering from a severely weakened economy. Many Americans have not only lost jobs but their homes as well. Any increase in energy costs that are already exorbitant will only serve to push Americans into a deeper hole. I and many Americans certainly care about our environment but NOT at the expense of our survival and the ability to feed, house, and clothe our families. I urge you to vote no on the American Clean Energy and Security Act and solicit your fellow Senators to do the same. Sincerely,

Btw, marches must be coordinated, you must get persmission, etc. We the people can flood their mailboxes and office with letters, faxes, and calls every day. Bobtail - Did you send them anything yet or are you just going to sit and there and march just one day.

How in the world can the Senate even consider this bill coming out of the House?
Special interests reap billions while the impact on my wallet will be over 3000 dollars per year! Do not quote me a lower number, because we all know it will probably be higher.
Do you really think we should destroy our energy infrastructure and let China and India take over that role? What are we in America? I would like to think that we still make stuff here in America.
With this bill the House has identified themselves with the HATE AMERICA FIRST CROWD. Where do you stand Senator?
Our enemies could not design a plan to destroy America better than your Democrat Party led minions in the House.
Wake up Senator. I may have to camp out on your office door along with millions of other angry Americans.
By the Way, this bill tramples the 10th amendment as well as others. Virginia will not forget.

Being nice to folks who laugh in your face because: 1: They think "You do not understand;" or 2: They think they are better than you; is a waste of time.

Ok VGOF, fellow gun owners, citizens, and those I know are against this Cap and Trade bill. So far I've counted about 10 of us, including me, who have sent letters. We've set the example. Where are the rest of you? Will you join us and exercise your right to speak out to our senators and voice your opinion?
Remember: TO STAY SILENT ON THIS ISSUE IS AS GOOD AS CONSENTING !!!!!
By the way, this is the first of many installments. IMO we as gun owners are by default guardians of the Constitution and have a sacred duty to take our representatives to task. We will deal with gun issues, but IMO we must also deal with other issues. Let's not forget that the Constitution is much bigger than the 2nd Amendment.
P.S. If you agree with Cap and Trade, that's ok. But if you disagree, please join us and send those letters now before its too late. Obama is pressing this issue hard and the senate will swear Franken in shortly. You can bet your guns and ammo that the vote on this issue will follow immediately thereafter.
