I picked up a very interesting news article over the weekend and decided it is time to start pinging congress about the stimulus money. A study reveals that states carried by obama last fall (you know the ones that got him elected) have received, by far, more money than other states. I've posted the link and a letter I'm sending this morning. I urge you to join me and others in engaging congress to get this stopped. This is simply despicable and has gone far enough. Dear xxxxxxxxxx xxxx,

I am writing to express my concern and displeasure about the President’s stimulus bill. In a news report this past weekend, we the people were provided with some very interesting information. To summarize this report it appears that states with the least economic difficulties have received far more support than states facing severe budget crises. Furthermore and more importantly, the report revealed that the majority of TARP funds by far have been distributed to those states carried by the President during last year’s election. If the second point is indeed the case it is heinous and despicable to say the least.

I strongly urge you to take the following actions immediately to ensure that OUR money is being used wisely and with discretion towards SENSIBLE programs:

- To our knowledge less than 10% of TARP funds have been disbursed. Disbursement of the remaining funds must be stopped pending a full audit that will be made available for review by we the people.

- Launch an investigation to determine if there is or has been any conflict of interest or favoritism concerning disbursement of funds to states carried by the President during last year’s election. The results of this investigation will also be available for immediate review by we the people.

- Ensure that an additional stimulus package IS NOT passed unless and until it has been reviewed by and agreed to by we the people.

I remind you again sir that this is OUR MONEY – NOT YOURS. The President assured us last January that unemployment would not rise above 8% - the national average is now almost 10% and is predicted by experts to quickly rise even higher. The President also assured us that stimulus funds would be used only for shovel ready programs. Again, this is clearly not the case as he has more recently advised us that it will take up to two years to see results. Many of the programs targeted by the stimulus cannot begin for several months. Lastly, many of these programs are downright wasteful, ridiculous, and a slap in the face to American taxpayers.

We the people hold you accountable to ensure that OUR money is being spent wisely and with discretion. We also hold you accountable to ensure an appropriate balance of power, as required by the Constitution, exists between the legislative and executive branches.

Sir, I remind you that election day for you and your colleagues is quickly approaching and we the people will determine whether or not you have a seat afterwards. Please don’t let us or yourself down – stand up now and make sure our voices are heard, for I assure you that OUR voices will be heard on election day.
