The United Nations Security Council approved a resolution Thursday evening authorizing a no-fly zone over Libya and other measures military action against Libya.

The vote was 10-0 with five abstentions, including Russia and China.

The United States, France and Britain pushed for speedy approval because Muammar al-Qaddafi's forces are advancing toward opposition-held Benghazi. The Libyan leader vowed Thursday night to oust the rebels from their eastern stronghold.

Let's see how many demonrats start protesting that our troops should not be there like they have done with Iraq and Afghanistan. Remember, these wars were started so that Bush Jr. could defend his father's honor, right?

Not sure I care to see our folks sucked into this one or any conflict under this administration. IMHO there would simply be too many restrictions for getting the job done, force defense, declaring victory, and getting out. Too much deference to locals...besides we need to be getting ourselves out of being the global police force and concentrate on securing our borders. And, our guys need a break especially with the draconian cuts on the table for defense. DOD is not a fun place to be with leftists running things.

Our guys should not go over there, under this current administration,under any administration. Not even under the bush administration would I want our guys to go over there. There is just no reason for the USA to get involved in someone else' war.

Its going to be just like any other so called International Action...The United States will enforce it, bear the costs of it, send the troops if needed, while the rest of the parties sit on hands and bitch how bad they have it all the way to the bank... If it comes down to it..Libya would be a great place for a smoldering crater.

Just heard on Fox News that USS Barry (DDG-52) and USS Stout (DDG-55) are preparing to launch Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAMs) to disable Qadaffi's key Air Defense systems. The launches will be after the sun sets in Libya, which will supposedly help minimize collateral damage.

Prayers to those onboard both ships for a safe operation.

The French air force has begun combat ops; looks like they're taking the first shot. Who'd have thunk it?

BENGHAZI, Libya – French fighter jets fired the first shots at Moammar Gadhafi's troops on Saturday, launching the broadest international military effort since the Iraq war in support of an uprising that had seemed on the verge of defeat.

Although I'm opposed to US intervention...the Colonel is a world class douchebag and if other nations wish to smack down a despot instead of us for once...more power to them.

It will be great if they do take part, The more people shooting at that asshat the better,,, Others actually doing something.may make up for their lack of interest in other conflicts that affect them where they seem blatantly absent

Yes, France has alot of oil interests everywhere...odd due to their nuclear dependence...do they resell it? I know Italy is a major importer of Libyan oil.

It will cost big time but not as much as Iraq and Afghanistan unless we decide to put boots on the ground. Then we get to repay all damages and rebuild the infrastructure...but then again we might just do that anyway...isnt US foreign policy grand...

Cost us 65 million just in cruise missles yesterday,,not to mention all the other

I thought about that too...acted all by his little self without congress...he didnt declare war but loosing missiles on a sovereign nation without provocation is pretty much the same...about the only thing good about this is the flight crews get flying hours in and real live practice...

Can't remember where I saw the article, but it mentioned democrats muttering about impeachment since Obama didn't consult congress.
