Hold him To His Own Words

Hold him To His Own Words

Postby Jakeiscrazy » Mon, 03 Oct 2011 18:58:25

President Obama said today: "You are not better off than you were four years ago." In 2009 Obama said, "If I don't have this done in three years, then there is going to be a one-term proposition." Are you are going to hold Obama to his words?

I have seen more weathered "Obama" stickers closely followed by an "Ooops" sticker recently. His former supporters are jumping ship daily and he's managed to insult a bunch of his "rich & wealthy" backers.

I think he's done and should just bow out.

Is that the same Reagan, the real President, or the mythical President Reagan who is honored in the breech but not in actuality?

Or are you all in for The tax raising, fee raising, debt busting, deficits don't matter, expanding the size of government, sophisticating weapons (HAWK Air Defense Weapons) provider to Iran, working with Democrats, immigration reforming President Reagan? The real President Reagan?

The National debt was $700 billion when President Reagan took office and $3 trillion when he left. That's not politics, that's math.

Of the Republicans seeking the Presidential nomination not one can be likened to President Reagan. The same goes for the Republican leadership and Tea whatever party their name is today in Congress. The same goes for all too many people who call themselves conservatives, but are more like authoritarians, who have created a Ronald Reagan who never existed. Actually it's sad and more than opportunistic plus a reflection of how little stature these current politicians have. Anyone expressing the views and taking the actions of a Ronald Reagan in today's Republican Party would be called a RINO.

You see no matter what President Reagan thought, he was always willing to and did work with his political opponents. President Reagan knew that once in office you had to GOVERN, and that governing was impossible without compromise. The Constitution, the foundation of our laws, was and is a grand compromise.

If the attitude of say an Eric Cantor had been the dominant view during the Constitutional Convention, no American Republic would have ever existed.

The ideology of this current Republican Base is Anti-Federalist.

I guess you know that your heyday is done, the apogee was reached long ago. I can't fathom what it must be like to know that you are on the wrong side of history. The President and his family however you may disagree with his policies is not a THIEF! Can we stick to real issues?

no one is, or was a perfect president, but there sure is a lot of room to go up from the present bunch, from all parties, that we have in Washington right now.

Whether President Obama gets reelected or not I think the dominant bumper sticker for Americans should be:

"We have seen the enemy and it's us" as POGO once said.

We have been digging this hole for 30 years! And we expect to totally fill in the hole in 3 or 4 years? Only in a TV show or movie does that happen. And are we hearing any solutions from those who want the job? Nope, their remedy is let's go back and do what we did to get into this mess.

In fairness to Gat6. Troll might be a little harsh. He brought up points and even though I don't agree with him it is okay that he has a difference opinion. If someone posted a thread talking about how great they thought Obama was you wouldn't be trolling to challenge that statement. He isn't calling names and or anything just debating.

I don't think anyone(short of some crazy dreamers ) expects this whole country to be out of debt in 3-4 years but we certainly aren't any better than we were for years ago. In fact we've gone in the wrong direction!

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_%28Internet%29:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

It's well known to those of us who have been here a while that he regularly posts nonsensical drivel just to spark a confrontation. As the saying goes...if it looks like a duck, walks likes a duck, and quacks like a duck, It's a duck!

His post was no more inflammatory that any other post that differs in opinion and he wasn't off topic either. So even by that definition he isn't a troll. You can't call everyone with a different opinion a troll. If you aren't aware I have been here for "a while" as has Gat6. I'm well aware that there is a generally consensus he's a troll but he isn't trolling on this thread so give the guy a little respect were it's do and don't use the troll label as an excuse to not respond with a valid argument of your own.

The point was this: The debt created by one President does not cease when he leaves office. If the policies that created the debt continue then the debt continues to grow.

I won't show the math again but if you're interested you can find it all over the internet on plenty of sites including that of the Congressional Budget Office. Remember the Bush Tax cuts were slated to expire in 10 years, but they continue.

If you remember the prediction by the Bush administration was by 2011 those tax cuts, plus deregulation would produce millions of jobs and a $1 trillion dollar surplus. Need I repeat what actually happened? The worse job production record in 60 years! And an exploding deficit and debt. Such was the folly in buying into the economic theory of efficient markets.

So who do we blame for something that's been coming for 30 years. In the past 30 years we have run a deficit for every year but 2 or 3. That includes every President's Administration but Clinton's last 2 or 3 years.

Over that 30 years every President including this one has followed the same economic theory to varying degrees. Most economists now know there is a problem with the 2 dominant economic theories. But we're acting like nothing has changed. Also over that same 30 years Wall Street, which is supposed to be a means to an end separated itself from Main Street. Wall Street today is the equivalent of Las Vegas, only where the players are totally in the dark about the game they are playing.

Now the right and the left working Joes and Janes can continue to argue about the crumbs off the table if we like. Certainly the 15% of Americans who own 85% of America's wealth luv that just fine. And they are willing to kick in a few million to insure that we keep arguing over the crumbs.

Some facts don't lie. The Middle Class has taken it in the rear over the past 30 years with both higher taxes and stagnant wages. The working poor wages have actually declined over that period.

Karl Rove for example with his new group that can raise unlimited sums of money to defeat President Obama has said his group is prepared to spend $250 million dollars to that end.

Do you think he'll be asking any of us for a dime? Nope, that quarter of a billion is coming from approx 3 people names unknown. Now ask yourself the following question: Are they spending that kind of money to support you? Me? or any Middle Class Person? What do you think they want? Higher wages for Joe and Jane? Less expensive housing or fuel? More high paying jobs for Americans? Lower taxes on the Middle Class?

As far as war is concerned? We are involved in the same war that President Bush declared. There are different theaters but it's the same war. We would have been better off had we not created the Iraqi Theater.

If you want to blame this President for making it clear to those who want to and have tried to kill thousands of Americans that there are no sanctuaries go right ahead. Our policy is unless you cease and desist we will find you and kill you. What do you want the President to do send in the FBI to arrest them?

While some of you seem to think so, I'm not your enemy. And I'm sure as hell not much different than any of you. It has taken me a long time to see what I see. But now it's crystal clear. I'll leave it at that.
