Here is a quick tutorial on the Liberal way to reduce the Budget
It really puts it into perspective for you

Nope I don't think that you can. It just shows just how big it really is and how insignificant this attempt really is

They are being penny wise and pound foolish...lets see them cut some entire departments, eliminate foreign aid completely, eliminate UN dues, etc...

Yeah! Yeah! and keep right on cutting including gettig rid of a couple 100,000 fFederal employee's we don't need... The Department of Hokieland Security has over 230,000 employees and an annual budget of $50 Billion dollars. A prime of example of Government overkill in the name of security and red tape and waste, Not too mention one very incompetent ugly effiminate guy (Napolitano ) running it,,,, Take each instance of this and cut it down to reality and we will never have to worry about money again. We could pay back China and then proceed to own their butt much like they do us now.

@Spence - indeed, another 60,000 at TSA that we dont need. If they would make some sensible cuts where they are really needed maybe I wouldnt be looking at a 5 year pay freeze and 2 week furloughs...what gets me is that defense is the only department being targeted for cuts...and the only one specifically called out in the Constitution.

my question is has the TSA done anything constructive or were they created soely to harass the law abiding taxpayers? If they have done something constructive like caught a terrorist why hasn't it been publisised?

I agree and furthermore IMHO it doesnt matter if they have caught 1000 terrorists - they are violating 4th amendment rights...

I guess that it depends on if you feel that "junk touching" is constructive or not. :hysterical:

Seriously though, the only constructive thing that TSA has done, is create yet even more gubmint employees who are pretty much useless for anything else!

Good post Taggure. I've tried to point that out with words, but the problem is scale is usually best shown with pictures.

I'm with you 1000 percent. Gotta say though - there are no Great Moments in Liberal History - plenty of the exact opposite of Great Moments, wherein Great is replaced by a word that ends in 'hitty'. WWII troops invented a term which aptly describes Liberal activities - that term is SNAFU.

They take even longer to realize the savings not only because price, but because they aren't that much more efficient than CFLs. Typical "60-75W" CFLs are using only 10-20W. LEDs are using more like 3-7W for equivalent lighting (which only the really, really expensive ones do). Yes, saving another 5-10W a bulb is nice, but it is significantly less than the 50-75W+ saved with CFLs. I don't see them taking off until they can match CFLs in price which may or may not happen.

The color quality issue is already going away. They are building devices with multiple color LEDs on the same die, so they can balance whatever color temperature they want. As for the voltage issue, nobody making LED lighting seriously, is going to use voltage regulation. Even many of the little LED flashlights are using some kind of current-regulation. You are correct that the difference between CFL and LED is a lot less than the difference between incandescent and CFL. However, I think that LEDs will quickly displace CFLs as the prices drop, the same way all other semiconductors have.

You are correct, but I wasn't talking about control. When your house gets surge or brownout now they lights handle it fine, LEDs don't like that at all. Most of the serious systems I've seen require a degree of circuit protection to prevent damage in such cases. Brightness control is current based as the voltage only needs to be enough to bias the diode.

It depends on what your definition of "Liberal" is though!

Remember Ronald Wilson Reagan USED to be A DEMOCRAT! So did Charlton Heston, and quite a few people, then? The 60's happened, and the Commies hijacked the Dem's...

Now? A Republican today has more in common with the Democrats of the 50's, and early 60's, than the Republicans of days gone by.

No party stays the same, it changes, and ebbs like the tide. In another 100 years? The Republicans may be more Libertarian, and the Democrats will be more Fascist.

You just never know. :coffee:
