I genuinely think we should have a national lottery, half of us will get to be CEO of a publicly held company for one day. The other half Congressmen or Senators for one day.

Of course, showing up is optional. Just like real life.

After that day, either group will be set for life; the former will have tons of dough, the latter lifetime pension and benefits.

You're just eaten up with envy that your Obamacare coder check isn't that big.....yet.

Hey, if the hyper-literate liberal can negotiate a contract like that ....have at it!

While I think your constant harrassment of Kreutz is mildly amusing (I swear I think you have a script programmed to find any comment made by him and post something the opposite right after him), I think the constant berating of a single forum member kinda loses the punch of any sensible argument you may try to make.

I wonder how quickly I'd get kicked from this forum if I started targeting individuals and constantly made disparaging remarks about them.

You know, what makes it even more interesting, is that Kreutz has him blocked and everyone knows it. Kreutz never knows what Fish says, unless it gets quoted.

I wonder how many people get turned off from posting in a thread or from even joining the forum after seeing post after post like that. Like "I'm going to join THAT community? No thanks!"

I'm all for differing opinions during discussions but when you don't even have a position and it's just bash bash bash it kinda leaves a bad taste and I don't see how this community grows with prospective members seeing stuff like that. The thing all of us have in common the most is that we are gun owners in Virginia, so you'd think that would bring people together, but apparently the discourse gets so bad that we need a block feature. Wow.

As a fairly recent member I certainly know what you mean. I joined to share a common passion...firearms. Firearm forums are about the only forums I know of where political discussions are just about as common as firearm discussions. Do I expect it to be any different...no I dont...comes with the territory. But the political discussions are where the bashing comes into play. Not speaking for anyone but myself...but it gets kind or tiresome.

The article is rather misleading. He was the CEO of a company that was acquired by another. One would have to read his employment contracts to know all the details, but he got his severance for his full tenure at the company he ran before the merger as well as the day post-merger.

At any rate, a private organization has the right to offer any terms it agrees with its employees, using its own money. No taxpayer funds were involved, so it isn't legitimately a public issue. To make it one requires that one buys into Marxist class warfare based on the deadly sin of envy.

I have to disagree with you about one thing. In my opinion it is a public issue... here is why. It involves a utility that has a monopoly on its services. Do you think the customers of that utility should ultimately pay for this sort of nonsense. Because you know that is what will happen. I agree with your points about the contracts.

Salaries and perks like that get paid for at the expense of the consumer of the end product..IMHO . Anything that guy ever has done or ever will do is not worth that kind of money.. politics and bad business going on aids that nonsense ,.. Sadly, high prices make people turn to inferior imported goods in an effort to save a little $$ and yet American business do nothing to seriously counter it.Their disconcern is disgusting at times, The money they pay these drones could be used to,, ,actually give the employess medical bennies,or pay their pension fund, reinvest in better equipment, materials, or expand into new ventures,.44 million could buy a hell of a lot in business... I wonder if al lthe companies that we the taxpayer has had to bail out might not have needed it had they paid their executives what they're actaully worth instead of giving them the keys to the cash and a bag to carry it away in.....

BINGO!

You can bet the buy out was carefully studied and deemed to be a net benefit for the new company.

Redistributed marxist hate that! As witnessed by the comments above.

So are you saying I am a "redistributed marxist" because I think it is ridiculous that the utilities customers will pay for that 44M. Tell you what. If a GM, Ford or etc. CEO gets a 44M payday for working one day and it pissed you off...you can just not buy one of there vehicles. That is free enterprise. Utilities are monopolies. Big difference.

Hint: Americans shouldn't get pissed off for honering legal contracts.

The negotiate better ones next time!

Rich, the problem is not that a regulated utility company is doing it; the problem is that a regulated utility company exists. Imagine what technological innovations we would have had in power generation and distribution over the past 100 years if the electric power business had remained unregulated. But thanks to government meddling, the industry and its customers are stuck in a technological dark age.

While I agree that executive compensation is a matter between the exec, its board, and the shareholders, it doesn't apply to utilities really as others have said, and like you said, thats alo of dough that could buy alot of equipment, new hires, etc.

Of course there is the occasional Steve Jobs type that really does warrant their price tag, but it really just appears CEO'ing is just moving wealth to the top into the hands of a very few where it cannot do anything else.

Thats class warfare of course (because its directed at the rich).

Gripe about the welfare crowd (who are almost always whats called the "working poor"-they got jobs usually two, just cant make ends meet because wages for the non CEO crowd have been stagnant since the 70's) and thats just telling people to pick themselves up by their bootstraps, damnit.

It's just paving the way so that one day you too can be CEO. Remember, it's the haves and the soon-to-haves.

Seems to be for 383 tiems the average employees pay, the CEO must be so awesome he shouldn't even need employees, surely he can do it all himself?

I've never seen a guy in Brooks Brothers unload a semi while arguing with a past due accounts receivable and trying to remember if he met his health insurance deductible, but it'd be cool if I did. :hysterical:
