Earmarks by stateIf you wonder where the earmarks in the latest round of Tax and Spend nonsense in Congress are going here is a very good reference site ,,,,,, http://endingspending.com/ Our own Senator Mr Webb seems to be very generous with our money and how he spends it....Senator Warner managed to control his urges and be a bit more practical/// Seems a lot of them forgot what the election was about and decided to dip into the funds we don;t have,, Not a pleasant thing to see and needs to be remembered come elections although I think a shopping cart could beat either of our Senators come next one.......

Re: Earmarks by state#1 really suprized me, I would of figured the republic of california would have taken top spot.
Re: Earmarks by stateMaybe it's done by seniority or whoever has the biggest stones to ask for this stuff,.....North Dakota was a real surprise #1 to me too! Mississippi #2 and Arkansas #3 all are kinda odd ,but I guess a lot more than we will ever know goes on in COngress....

Re: Earmarks by stateFortunately Harry Reid(D NV) could not get the votes to pass it so it was DOA.. It is interesting to see just who is either spending it or wishes they could spend it,Senators Webb and Warner had a nice little cash pile themselves,,,Webb=$831,368,700
Warner= $635,833,700 it seems they like many others they just didn;t get the message this November and want an early start to the reasons why they should only serve 1 term each.. Webb in 2012 and Warner in 2014 ![]()
Re: Earmarks by state
I think one of the things this probably tells you is which party is in control. It would be interesting to look at the same list during the Bush years.
Re: Earmarks by stateOne of the reasons for the big defeats to the GOP in 2006 and 2008 was indeed the fact that they spent way to much money while in charge. The zeros on the Republicans here does reflect a true change in philosophy not just the result of not being in charge.
Re: Earmarks by stateThese actually do not represent who has the biggest balls to ask for it...earmarks are used as barter items -- "If you let me put this earmark on your proposed bill you have my vote..."
Sometimes when there is an overwhelming majority - like now - it is indeed done along party lines. I've watched the earmark game closely for several years. Working where I do we are impacted by them and the process every year. Earmarks are not always a bad thing. Does anyone recall the concealed carry in national parks bill...that was an earmark and was passed because it was part of something much bigger... No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

Re: Earmarks by stateIt didn;t cost anything though...Some of these ridiculous earmarks were for Really Bad Crappola. But if for no other reason, we need to let them know that playing fast and easy with our money will no longer be tolerated....IMHO if earmarks and a whole lotta other wasteful spending (Foreign Aid, Mosquito's screwing in Guatemala, Turtle Tunnels etc:) was stopped completely. Things like Social Security and Medicare would not be having problems and the US Checkbook would be in the black and the states could actually keep their money while actually acting like the sovereign entities they;re supposed to be..

Re: Earmarks by state
Earmarks are a process. Not the best process I'll admit. However, the problem won't be fixed by altering the process as politicians will just find a way to work the new process. The only way to fix this problem is to vote the bums out and get constitutionalists in power. Until government follows the Constitution there is no way to reign in spending and debt.
Re: Earmarks by state
You got that right. Screw the dems and republicans. No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...
