SHMIV, I do believe in the sanctity of marriage. My point is that using is as a reason for not allowing people to get married is bogus, especially when involved in activity that makes one a hypocrite. That hypocrisy boils my blood.
Sanctity of marriage is most certainly a reason to refuse marriage to a couple. For example, my father is a pastor; he conducts interviews with couples who come to him to get married. Because he, also, believes in the sanctity of marriage, if he seriously doubts that the marriage will last, he will not officiate the marriage. As a Christian, myself, I have to agree with that stance. When the topic of a homosexual "marriage" pops up, I disagree with that, too. But, that has just as much to do with the definition of marriage, and that is a topic for another thread.
As to the hypocrisy, on the other hand, I'm with you 100% on that, my friend. Downright pisses me off, it does.
By the way, I don't think that I was quite aware of your own upcoming marriage. If I was, it must have slipped my mind. So, if I have not yet said it, congrats to ya. If I had, then congrats again, lol.
