I hunt with a pistol mostly for deer. Even with a .44 180 GR HP the spray out the other side is about three feet if inside 20 yrds. Now with a rifle I would bet you would also want to have all that energy remain in the animal and not fly though and maybe hit something unintended or someone. So maybe...

As a VA resident we can apply for DC Carry permit. Has anyone done this yet? Do the classes you have already taken apply to those that are needed for the DC class?

Talk to your local circuit court and ask them how to go about this. Get names and paperwork with signatures. You can give gifts to family members of weapons. Get it in writing and bring it with you along with a ph number the gun dealer can call. Go during court hours to the gun store.

You can get them in 9mm so there would be less of a chance for it to go further than you want.
