And long, long delays in many cases waiting for the background check to process. Record is clean as a whistle and still delayed after 2.5 hours meanwhile others submitted after me were clearing in 30 minutes. Talking t a few others it might help speed things up if you NOT to use your CHP as your 2nd ID otherwise it seems the state is playing delay games

I generally go to the shows when I have something in particular I'm looking for (i.e, holsters - I'm always looking for holsters - ammo, etc). I love the Nation's Gun Show, but it's a bit pricey to get in, IMO. That's why I have to have a specific purchase in mind.

If you are relatively new to firearms, go to the big ones and just have fun. After a while you get jaded and have seen everything there is to offer (practically) and unless you have something specific it tends to not be worth it. As such, I haven't gone recently.
There is a misconception that gun shows only sell guns. While that is mostly what is sold, knives, jewellery, collectables such as war memorabilia, coins, etc. are sold as well. Go to a couple and have fun. Chantilly is probably the best in VA, but it can be a zoo (especially on Friday afternoons just trying to get in).

I got there about forty-five minutes before opening on Friday, it was pretty un-crowded (last year there were almost always long lines over an hour before opening).
While I did get what I needed it seemed like there was a little less selection of interesting stuff this time. Lots of common caliber ammo though.
Did run into Wayne LaPierre a couple times. Supposedly the first time he's come to that show.

I was there Saturday, and there was plenty of guns and ammo to be had... But I didn't see any good deals on gear or accessories like I have in the past.
