Current "wait"

Postby ImmortalArms » Mon, 11 Jun 2012 21:48:59

ATF NFA branch is currently processing forms submitted in early December. They are hiring some contractors to provide support to the examiners to speed things up a bit. I am noticing a slight speed up in the stamps I am getting back.

Lets hope that trend continues. I dream of a day when I can buy NFA items just like any other gun. One can hope right?

so we've gone from absurd to simply ridiculous ? :hysterical:

I've got a few co workers who I had interested in joining the NFA club until they found out there is a 5-7 month wait.

I hope the ATF can figure a way to get the process down to something more reasonable.

I just got back one of two stamps that I submitted early December. I submitted two Form 1s and only got one back. I hope the 2nd one is right behind. If it's true that they are hiring contractors, maybe I will go ahead and buy that other can...

My form 4 went pending 11/14 and was approved 5/25. My form 1 went pending 11/21 and was approved yesterday. So just over 6 months for me.

My last two stamps on a Form 4 Trust were returned after almost exactly 6 months back in February as well. The examiner was Mr Lamberger.

I was impressed, however, when my Form 20 was approved in only 8 days. I was afraid it would take a month or more.

As of this morning, 6/23/2012, we have officially moved into January on Form 4s. The backlog from 2011 is pretty much gone now.

I guess someone in Martinsburg likes me, I got a 5300.38 turned around in about a month, which should save me a chunk of change versus some of the projections I've seen for those (six months plus).

I have had 6 or 7 Form 1s and Form 4s come back in the last few months and all of them were 6 months mailbox to mailbox, +/- 2 weeks. The 5320.20s are coming back in a couple weeks though.

Just curious, what's wrong with doing away with the useless NFA law in the first place?

nothing wrong with it, just not likely the political will, or the financial backing to help create the will to change it.

I would also imagine a lot of vendors would be upset when that $15k m16 lower is worth maybe 1k
