favorite activities: hunting shooting and reloading. New to northern virginia, but to celebrate picked up a weatherby vanguard .308 win from Clark Brothers (Nova firearm store/range) and had the added benefit of supporting a reputable small business who like us, also enjoy the 2nd amendment. Very excited about hunting season although I do not have anywhere except state lands to hunt- which is great I'm glad they are available! I really need to learn what you can hunt with in which counties,(which are rifle legal, which are buckshot legal, etc.) but other than that just here to talk about firearms, reloading and hunting in general. Hope you don't mind but I also really love bow hunting, but rifle is first and foremost!

Going to try and reload the heaviest gr bullet possible in my .308 for ethical black bear take down. Hoping the vanguard works well with 190 gr.

Favorite firearm: M1 Garande
Favorite Pistol: Colt 1911
Shotgun: Remington 870 express magnum

Just go to any Wal-Mart and they will have the Hunting regulations for you to take with you for free. Virginia is a Right to Hunt state so I think you will enjoy it here.

RIght to hunt is excellent thanks for posting the link I just read it. I have a copy of the regs, sometimes they aren't as clear as I would like them to be. Each county I learned can be as restrictive as it likes, unfortunately.

When you start to get a little cold outside hunting or even if you need to sight in your rifles, you should come give Silver Eagle Group a try. Indoor range over in Ashburn, VA.
Then if you decide you want become a Member, just ask for Melissa and I'll help you out!

Since you asked, the public lands near you in Fauquier County allow centerfire rifle and everything else. One of the guys on another board hit one of the two WMAs in that area and got a nice 10-point buck with a muzzleloader. Good luck! I was hoping to get out this season but moving is going to cost me my weekends.
