New Member & Re-Locating to VAHello: I will be moving to the Richmond area in March from sunny and balmy New Hampshire (assuming I make it through one more winter). Lived in Fairfax when I was in the Army and decided to retire in VA to be close to my brothers. I've been around firearms all of my life and just getting back in to shooting in the past six months. Checking the internet, found this site and signed up. I'm looking forward to becoming a VA resident, being close to family, settling down to a permanent home, good BBQ, hush puppies and sweet tea, not necessarily in that order. Currently have a NH CCL and plan to apply for VA CCL as soon as I get moved in.
On question I have is in regards to my DD214. It does not reflect any weapons qualifications, will that be an issue with the CCL application?
Re: New Member & Re-Locating to VADD214 is all you need. It is assumed that if you're a veteran, you've handled a firearm at some point.
So, take your DD214 to the county clerk, fill out the application, pay them $50, and wait up to 90 days. (some localities require fingerprints and a couple of other hoops, but that's the gist of it). Welcome aboard! ![]()

Re: New Member & Re-Locating to VAWelcome aboard.
You say Richmond area. If it's Henrico County, the process is painless and I got mine in 20 days. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] ![]() Never initiate force against another.
