Re: New guy newport news area New guy to shooting... Knowing now what I wish I knew then. Get training, and keep getting training. Buy good electronic hearing protection before your next gun. Of course it is in the last place you looked, your not going to keep looking for something after you've found it.

Re: New guy newport news area
Bought a used Ruger P95dc at a pawn shop. Thinking I got ripped off as I paid $360 for it and it only came with one magazine and no case. Found a hardshell gun case at K-mart for ten bucks though so I might pick that up in the next few days. I'm a college student, an army reservist, and working part time so I have to make my dollars count. The local range here in Newport News holds CC classes so I think getting that permit will be my next investment after that (despite the P95 not being the best CC gun)
yep after that, hearing protection will probably be my next buy followed by NRA and VCDL memberships. Only then shall I finally be able to start looking for my next gun. Thinking about either a Ruger sp101 or a Glock 26 so that I can CC better. Any advice on that? THE TWO LOUDEST SOUNDS YOU'LL EVER HERE ARE... Re: New guy newport news areaMy advice is to hold off on a better carry weapon untill you have had a chance to shoot diffrent weapons and diffrent calibers. Most people on this board are purty good about letting you shoot their weapons to see what you are most comfortable with if you just ask. If you get up in my area I can get you with a host of diffrent ones.
P.S. welcome aboard Bill ![]()
