Virginia Gun Owners Forum - VGOF

Hey all - I'm fairly new to the Northern VA area - moved to Fairfax Station in January and just moved into my current residence (barely inside the city lines for Alexandria right by 395) in May.

I have had a firearm (my .22 savage rifle) since I was 18 and could legally purchase it. I bought my first (and currently only) handgun last summer with the intention of concealed carry. I took at class in Kansas, and applied for my out of state Florida license. I'm applying now for my Virginia license - since I'm a resident now - and am currently waiting for it.

I always like being in on the loop and consider myself well informed and active. I'm currently working at a non profit association in Arlington - but hope to eventually be working in some sort of policy area, either within the government, or outside of it in an organization like the Heritage Foundation.

I lived in Kansas for 4 years and that is where I got my start with carrying - now I'm curious, is there a dedicated Concealed carry forum for VA out there? I'm looking forward to becoming more active with gun rights here in VA as well as across the US.

to the forum and if you are interested in the 2A rights I think you are in the right place. You can also check out the VCDL as they are a Strong 2A rights advocate here in the state of Virginia and helps to influence the legislation that affects the Virginia state laws.

Just a heads up, from what I've seen is that inside the Beltway it is not very firearm friendly, the farther you get outside the beltway, the more friendly it becomes.

Thank you for the welcome everyone - and thank you GearGuy for the warning. I'm sure you are right - but I'm not going to let that stop me from carrying - We are blessed to be in a state with uniform carry laws.
