Moving to Richmond soonHello all, I'm new to this forum, my family and I will be moving to the Richmond area in the next few months. I am from, Indiana, ( Kentucky originally), and have been a member of INGO, Indiana Gun Owner for about 2 years, and have had my Indiana License to Carry handgun for about 6, I love your automobile carry laws, they are similar to Kentucky's, in that you can carry in the glove compartement, unlike Indiana where you have to have LTCH in order to keep a handgun loaded in your car. What do I need to know about getting a Va permit? My In LTCH is not valid in Va, and I know I can open carry. I am a veteran, so I think my DD 214 will allow my to skip the firearms qualification course, any thing I am missing?
There is no such thing as too many guns.........
Re: Moving to Richmond soonIf you're in Henrico County, it's a snap. You are correct that a DD214 is valid proof of qualification. Fill in the application, get it notarized, go to the public safety office for fingerprints, drive to the courthouse and turn in all documents with a check for $50. My permit was ready in 20 days from dropoff date.

Re: Moving to Richmond soon Do you know if you are moving to the city, proper, or one of the counties ?? As the poster above said, Henrico Co. is pretty straight forward, my county (goochland) is extremely straightforward, I got my renewel back in 4 working days. The city of Richmond, will give you crap but will get it done. Just remember they cannot charge you more than 50.00 total, it is set by the legislature. Of course we are a "shall issue" State so, you shouldn't have any problems. http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_Res ... ealed.shtm "Respect for religion must be reestablished.
