Greetings,
I'm Yorktown HS, class of '65, and despite having moved to Kalifornia in '91 I consider myself a Virginian. Grew up on a farm in Vienna when it was an agri community and from 4th grade on lived in Arlington. Some of you, if you're really old remember me from my "radio daze" at WHFS. I miss the Old Dominion and what I left behind but twenty years in CA make me recollect the snow with less than fond memories. What I lament greatly is having to live under the thumbs of the tree hugging liberals in Sacramento. Our new sheriff here in San Diego is less-than-fondly remembered as the "Butcher of Ruby Ridge" and doesn't think self defense is "due cause" for issue of a CCW license. Unless you are rich enough, that is...or have documented threats on your life (I think written or filmed evidence helps.)
That said, I maintain Utah, Florida and VA permits. I am considering coming back next Fall for the 50th anniversary of Yorktown changing from an elementary to a high school. Thought I'd revisit the living fossils who were with me at school as well as seeing how the landscape has changed.
Anyway, Hi! to all of you like-minded sheepdogs. I may have a few questions before I come back to visit. I already plan to ship my sidearms to a friend's house, to myself, rather than deal with TSA. I've done it both ways and this works better. My best wishes to all of you and gratitude for carrying the smokeless torch, as it were, for all of the sheepdogs everywhere.
