Hey everyone always looked at this site figure Id join now =P

Anyway I put up a gun for trade, I might be moving but if I dont I'm going to look into the VDCL (is that it?)

Also joining the NRA (of course)..

I filed for my CHP last week so now the wait starts!!

I OC regularly not to many people around alexandria do that so I like to be a good influence, I try to stop and help people pick up a pop can throw it in the trash give off a good vibe of someone carrying a weapon and that not everyone who carries one is a bad person.

I'd love to try to alter one priority you implied, but I hope others will chime in and either contradict or support my thought. You wrote about joining the VCDL, but seemed not totally certain of it name, and then said yu'd join the NRA, "of course."

IMO you should turn those around. Join the Virginia Citizens' Defense League, of course. And probably join the NRA. After a little while you'll come to see that VCDL is the organization that VERY actively, intellgently, and effectively represents your interests as a Virginia gun owner. I'm not knocking the NRA, although I know that's a popular thing to do.

I could not be more pleased than I have been during about a year with VCDL. The NRA is constantly bombarding members with pleas for contributions, and I only occasionally will send a bit extra if the reason is very persuasve (usually it isn't; just postcards to our Congressional delegation. VCDL (not only officers, but regular members) meet constantly with the State legislature and county and city governments. The results are evident very quickly.

I'm simply a member. I have no position and no vested interest in the organization, but when I have a few extra shekels that's where they go and I feel good about it. There's almost daily feed back to the membership from Philip Van Cleave, VCDL president.

Maybe I'm overly enthusiastic but I'd like the rest of you to chime in if your thoughts are similar to mne.

The good thing about the NRA is they lobby across all states. If gun owner rights in one state fail they may fail in others too. Likewise, a victory in one state might lead the way for another. IMHO both organizations are fundamental for VA gun owners...just my $0.02.

Yeah its not that I dont want to join the VCDL, its I might be moving to Kentucky here soon so not sure if Ill be here much longer so dunno if it would really benefit me to join ya know.
