http://www.roanoke.com/news/roanoke/wb/293707An intruder who was bludgeoned to death by a chair-wielding Raleigh Court apartment resident last weekend was identified Thursday as Jose Elias Castro Ramos, 27, of Roanoke.
Ramos entered the apartment in the 2700 block of Brandon Avenue early Saturday illegally, Roanoke police said in a statement. A resident found Ramos in a bedroom and hit him with a chair, fatally injuring him, Commonwealth's Attorney Don Caldwell said earlier.
"No charges have been filed at this time," police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said Thursday. Police won't identify the resident. Caldwell said the killing appeared justified, based on the preliminary investigation, which continues.
I wonder if a gun would have also been considered justified? Based on earlier reports the burglar was unarmed.
So rattle my bones all over the stones, I'm only a beggar-man whom nobody owns. Oh, see how words as old as sin, fit me like a glove.
I'm here and here I'll stay.

Wood you guys stop with the chair jokes? You should leaf this story alone and branch off to other things! You wooden want to give the chair grabbers any legs with furniture bans! Assault furniture bans are in our future.. consider most are made fully automatic! Just wait til it gets to the bench! Just table this discussion will you!?!?!?!

It's not a chair, but how about a self-defense table? http://www.jamesmcadam.co.uk/portfolio_html/sb_table.html It provides a club and a shield to people in a country where legal self-defense with a firearm is almost totally impossible.

Just as I've always said... all chairs should be registered. Probably won't be able to carry my chair on board domestic flights anymore either.
