VA Governor's Race - CRITICAL INFORMATION

Postby zephyp » Sun, 13 Sep 2009 11:50:27

Folks we are nearing election day for our next governor and as Americans we have the right to vote.

3 November 2009 is the day !!!!!! MARK YOUR CALENDAR

The time is now and the day is almost upon us. IMO some of the most important issues are:

- Make sure you are registered and know where to vote - the deadline for registering is 29 days prior to the election. If you're not registered now you need to hurry!!!!! Sorry, but that is the law (Code of Virginia §§ 24.2-416). Here's the website if you need more information:

http://www.sbe.virginia.gov/cms/Voter_I ... gistration

- Encourage your family, friends, neighbors, etc to register and vote
- Get informed about the candidates
- Support your choice of candidate in any way you can - knock on doors, make phone calls, send e-mails, volunteer, donate, help people get registered, drive people to the polls, etc
- VOTE

Each candidate has a web site and its easy to find info. If you need help - please ask. Here's is the wiki link. I post it since it does show statistics concerning fund raising, polls, etc.

Great post Zephyp  The time has come for all of us to unite. yesterday around1.5 million went to Washinton DC. This is just the tip. For every one person in DC there was 10 at home who wanted to be there. For everyone in DC yesterday there was 5/10 who knew nothing about it. We need to spread the word.
Monday at 5PM watch Glenn Beck on Fox News and you will see how we as a nation can defeat this corupation in Washinton. We need to do this for us, our children and grandchildren.
We need our country and constitution back!!!!
Folks it is 1770's and you are being called to arms, :!: telephone and voting booth arms NOT firearms
ARE YOU GOING TO ANSWER THE CALL

You can also fill out an interactive (PDF) form online, then print and mail it to your local voter registration office.

Once you mail it, you can use a link on the page I posted above to check your status. You can also hand carry the form, which might be recommended if you wait much longer.

Whatever you do, make sure - if you want to vote - that you are registered NLT the 29 day deadline before the election - and thats somewhere around 4 or 5 October depending on how they count days.

Bottom line: Dont Delay !!!!!

OK - so, once I receive my voter registration card (which I've had for about 4 years), do I ever have to renew my registration, or am I registered to vote forever in Virginia as long as I remain a resident of Virginia?

You are registered and there is nothing else you must do UNLESS 1. You move in which case you must re-register/change address or 2. the post office/locality changes your street address (because of E911 for example) in which case you must re-register/change address. It took them 8 years though before they figured out I hadn't submitted a change of address when we got a new E911 address.

I expect you'd have to re-register if you changed your name also.

You got that right, Mike. The important thing right now is getting folks to register before that 29 day deadline.

Let's not to forget that along with registering them ,getting them to learn about the issues and the candidates and getting them to go to the polls is equally important.. (no rain outs)

If you have not registered to vote and plan to participate in the 3 November election, the 29 day deadline is quickly approaching. You have 2 weeks left. Follow the link and instructions below if you wish to register. I recommend you do it quickly otherwise you may be forced to hand carry the form to you local registrar.

By all means get registered if you haven't already,,That is one of the biggest reasons we're stuck with Obama and his cast of dingbats,, Groups like ACORN went out and helped to register thousands of people who might not ordinarally have voted,, Now with all those additional voters, our side needs to get each and every voter we can to register and get these clowns voted out of Washington.. and in some cases our State too. Particulary the State Senate,,Way too many DEMS there and they hate gun rights ,,,

Yes, heres what we should all do:

1. Make sure you are registered.
2. Find a gun owner who isnt (yes, there are many out there)
3. Convince them to register and point them towards the right information
4. Ask them to find another unregistered gun owner and pass it on

Just got the official word - the deadline for voter registration is 5 October. That means your registration must be postmarked no later than 5 October.

Do the same drill as you do for taxes - but - dont delay. Get that thing in the mail today. You never know what kind of mistake might be made.

If you've already mailed the app you can check your status here - click search by voter registration and fill out the form.

Fellow gun owners another reminder about registration for the upcoming 3 November election:

5 October - next Monday is the deadline for registration. If you havent registered yet I would recommend you hand carry to your local registrar to make sure nothing gets lost or shuffled. Here's a link to help you find your local office.

Just a friendly reminder that today (Monday - 5 Oct 09) is the deadline to register for the 3 Nov 09 elections here in VA. You can still mail your application as long as it is postmarked today, but I would hand carry if you want to ensure your spot at the polls.

The responses to VCDL's 2009 Statewide Candidate Survey are now up on
the web. http://www.vcdl.org/surveys/Survey_Resu ... ewide.html

The Survey Results page also contains a link to the Survey or you can
view the survey directly at:
http://www.vcdl.org/surveys/survey_2009_statewide.html

It's important to contact the candidates:

-- Thank Bill Bolling for answering the survey 100% pro-gun.
-- For those who answered less than perfect, pick one or two
questions, present them with the facts and urge them to reconsider
their position.

If they didn't answer the survey, that frequently indicates
indifference, if not outright hostility, toward YOUR Right to Keep and
Bear Arms.

Remember, if they are afraid to take a public stand on these issues now,
before the election, then they are unlikely to be very responsive to
your views after the election.
