VA-ALERT: VCDL Freedom Rally, gun shows and events!

Postby OakRidgeStars » Thu, 01 Oct 2009 11:55:46

----------------------------------------------------------------------
VCDL's meeting schedule: http://www.vcdl.org/meetings.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Abbreviations used in VA-ALERT: http://www.vcdl.org/help/abbr.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. VCDL Freedom Rally on October 17th is a "must attend" event!
2. Roanoke Rifle and Revolver Club hosting a VCDL shoot on October
10th!
3. Gun shows and events!

**************************************************
1. VCDL Freedom Rally on October 17th is a "must attend" event!
**************************************************

I find myself in the frustrating position of telling you that you
really, really don't want to miss the VCDL Freedom Rally, while at the
same time not being able to share ALL the details. The problem is
that some of it is to be a surprise, so you're stuck having to take my
word for it on blind faith. :-(

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 17th from 2 PM to 7 PM. The
rally will be at two locations during the day: 1) the Innsbrook
Shoppes mall (Cox and Broad) and 2) near the Republican Roundup being
held by the GOP 7th District at the SnagAJob Pavilion (Nuchols Road
and Lake Brook Drive).

The two locations are about a mile apart and parking should not be a
problem at either location. VCDL members in orange vests will be
coordinating the effort, helping with such things as parking and
directions.

We will have professionally made signs with various messages on them
for members to carry.

Doc Thompson of WRVA (AM 1140 in Richmond) will be one of our guest
speakers.

Afterwards, various restaurants at the Innsbrook Shoppes will be
welcoming gun owners onto their premises for a meal before you head
home. We will have a list of restaurants and whether they will be
offering any discounts to VCDL members in a future update.

We expect national and local TV coverage of this rally. EM Matt
Gottchalk will also be filming the event for the VCDL web site.

Be sure to bring your whole family, friends, co-workers and other like-
minded people (like those from other liberty groups). So far we have
over 125 people who are coming, that's a great start but let's really
dwarf that number and absolutely flood the place!

*** Oh, and bring a camera. ;-) ***

I am keeping a rough count of attendees. If you are coming and have
NOT already done so, send an email to:

FreedomRally@vcdl.org

Make the subject line "YES" with a dash and the number of attendees,
like this: "YES - 4"

We will NOT read the body of the email itself, but will simply count
attendance by looking at the subject line.

**Please respond ONLY if you are ABLE to attend.**

See you Saturday, October 17th from 2:00 PM to 7 PM!

**************************************************
2. Roanoke Rifle and Revolver Club hosting a VCDL shoot on October
10th!
**************************************************

Again this year, Roanoke Rifle and Revolver Club (RRRC) will host the
VCDL/RRRC Defensive Pistol Shoot on Saturday, October 10th at the RRRC
ranges.

Setup time starts at 0800; Shooter registration at 0900; New shooter
briefing at 0930; shooters meeting at 0945; and the event will start
at 1000.

Free hot dogs and soft drinks will be furnished by VCDL---and extra
"fixings" will be provided by member's families.

The event is open to the public--Shooters, come on out and support
this event !!

We still need prizes to award to shooters--the goal is to have
something for everyone !! We are seeking prizes--no prize is too
large--or too small !! Ask the business folks you trade with for their
support !! Prizes are awarded by drawing, using shooters registration
numbers--so all have an equal chance of winning.

Help us support this super event !!!

More info will be announced closer to the shoot.

If you're in the Richmond area today, tune into WRVA AM 1140 to hear VCDL President Philip Van Cleave speak about the upcoming Freedom Rally. Or you can listen to streaming audio via the web.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Talk show personality Doc Thompson is having me on his show today to talk about both the VCDL Freedom Rally coming up on October 17th and the McDonald vs Chicago case being heard by the Supreme Court. I will be on at around 3:05 PM.

Doc's show is in Richmond on WRVA (AM 1140) and can also be heard on streaming video here:
