Also, I got this email from a member:
Hi Philip,
I agree that we should make our position clear to Comcast. However, I
don't believe it will actually change their behaviour, and here's why.
I'm in the network/Internet business. Comcast's only interaction with
"us little people" is through their cable service. Unfortunately,
cable service tends to be a monopoly in most areas of the country.
Wherever there's Cox, there's no Comcast, and vice-versa.
Because of this, Comcast actually gets away with mistreating their own
customers, let alone someone who doesn't pay them any money for
anything. The only folks they're really afraid of two-fold:
1.) CIO's and MIS Directors, because that one person's happiness with
them means make-or-break on a multi-million-dollar leased-line
contract, and
2.) government officials, for obvious reasons.
So, given that, what *will* help, then? That's easy. Those of us
geeks who are in the IT business need to lobby inside our companies
for Cox or Verizon or any other provider that doesn't attack our 2A
rights like Comcast just did. That's really the only thing that'll
get their attention, along with the standard lobbying of our elected
officials. If there are any VCDL members that are IT managers,
*those* phone calls will help greatly.

2. Too late - Bill Mims has been appointed to the Virginia Supreme
Court

All we can do is hope he doesn't hurt our gun rights - I wish I felt
better about this appointment:

Mims Appointed To Virginia Supreme CourtBy Erika Jacobson Moore
(Created: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 4:11 PM EST)
Loudoun's Bill Mims has become the newest member of Virginia's high
court.
The House of Delegates and Senate today appointed Mims to replace
Justice Barbara Keenan, who was appointed to the 4th Circuit Court of
Appeals by the U.S. Senate last week. Mims had been tapped as the
leading candidate to take Keenan's seat before the vote Wednesday.
Mims is only the second Virginian to serve in the General Assembly, as
Attorney General and on the Supreme Court. Mims served as Attorney
General until January, filling the seat when Bob McDonnell resigned
the office to campaign full time for governor. He had served as deputy
attorney general under McDonnell and represented Loudoun in the House
of Delegates from 1992 to 1997 and the Senate from 1998 to 2005. He
became the Deputy Attorney General in January 2006.
Sen. Mark Herring (D-33), who was elected to Mims' Senate seat, said
the unanimous appointment is a positive step for the commonwealth.
"He has keen legal mind and brings a wealth of experience on a wide
range of legal issues," Herring said Wednesday after the vote.
Mims has been a partner in the Hunton & Williams law firm in Richmond
since he left the AG post.
A native of Harrisonburg, Mims received a degree in history from the
College of William and Mary, where he served as president of the
student body. He did graduate in public administration at the college
and received law degrees from George Washington University and
Georgetown University.
While in the General Assembly, Mims was an attorney in Leesburg.
Before practicing law he served as chief of staff for Rep. Frank Wolf
(R-VA-10) and as deputy legislative director to Sen. Paul Trible (R-
VA). He served on the Board of Governors of the Virginia Bar
Association from 2002 until 2004, and was an adjunct professor of law
at George Mason University from 2002 to 2005.
Mims will serve a full 12-year term on the Virginia Supreme Court, as
is dictated by the Virginia Constitution.
