I emailed Virginia Senator Mark Warner to ask his stance on HR 822, the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act. The response is below (my name redacted). Dear Mr. Mindflayer, Thank you for contacting me regarding your thoughts on the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011 (H.R. 822). I realize that there are very strong opinions on both sides of the debate around Second Amendment rights. I support public policies that ensure the responsible and appropriate use of guns, as well as efforts to reduce gun-related crimes through increased enforcement and background checks. I supported full funding of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), the only national database that flags individuals who are precluded under current law from purchasing or possessing firearms. I do not, however, support laws or regulations that infringe on the Second Amendment Constitutional right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. In the aftermath of the tragedy in Tucson, Arizona and in light of the Virginia Tech shootings, we must remain vigilant in our efforts to ensure firearms do not get into the wrong hands. In the United States Senate, legislation on gun control generally falls under the jurisdiction of the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which I am not a member. However, I will keep your views in mind should any legislation on this matter come before the full Senate in the future. Again, thank you for contacting me. Warner will do as his party bosses tell him. Anyone expecting otherwise hasn't been paying attention.

+1 "I will keep your views in mind should any legislation on this matter come before the full Senate in the future." Allow me to translate this for you: "I will vote how I damned well please, and I'm not going to tell you what that vote will be. I'll think about you when I cast my vote - "Pfft!""
