Would Thomas Jefferson's Statement be "Constitutional"?

Would Thomas Jefferson's Statement be "Constitutional"?

Postby Taggure » Mon, 09 Aug 2010 11:53:39

Think about todays PC enviroment and you have got to wonder how this administration would have viewed Thomas Jefferson’s statement.

In Thomas Jefferson’s words,
“In questions of power then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the constitution.”
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
Thomas Jefferson

It'd probably make em to sick to function...to actually have do their jobs correctly requires us to retrain them. SO in November all adult voters need to get to the training polls and help Oboinky's minions retrain......

I'm afraid I have to agree here. But the Republicans are no better than the Democrats are. Members of neither party will let themselves be "bound down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."

So, despite the fact I cannot vote Democrat, there's no way in Hades that I can vote Republican, either. They've shown us that they're not on our side.

1. Jefferson was a free thinker and todays liberal press would not give him and support. 2. CowboyT you hit the problem on the head. "They've shown us that they're not on our side" They worry more about keeping their job then they do doing their job.

There in lies where we have screwed the pooch over the years..Allowing these incompetent career politicians to stay in office. Lets face it, a lot of people are waking up after a far too long sleep to see just what a mess the country is. our system isn;t perfect by a long shot but it is what we have to work with. We;ve all been negligent in our duty to elect responsible reps and the last election proves that out. If the current crowd in DC had gone about their business a bit slower and quieter a lot of people wouldn't be paying them any attention. We , as gun owners have an issue that keeps us focused on them and IMHO gives us an upper hand in knowing whats going on.. Republicans can be as bad as the Democrats but at least this cycle they have a better blueprint of what the voters want than I;ve seen in a long time.. It would be great if column C could get elected but its usually futile at best,,, All we can do is hope when we hit the button is we;ve made the correct call .

If only our representatives were civil servants and not career politicians...

Only because too many people say this. If more of us decided it wasn't futile (I'm one of those), then it won't be. It's up to us to fix this problem. Neither the Democrats nor Republicans will. They both like things as they are.

I must agree. My first criteria is the candidate must support the Constitution. If they do and are dem or rep then they are more likely to drop their support for the party if required. I realize the strategy in this as both sides think they need to stick together to get anything done, BUT IMHO the real politician is the one who is faithful to their oath, honest, and can sway others to see it that way. No way can you be wrong if you support your oath, our Constitution, and be honest. If so, then there is something terribly wrong.
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

To have Cincinatus as the role model.

Today's Lawyers realize that if they suck at their jobs, they can run for office, and at least accomplish some graft. Too bad working in the General Assembly isn't like JURY DUTY!

I would much rather vote republican where there is a 50-50 chance of getting screwed than vote democrat where there is 100% chance of getting screwed.
