Quantico Shooting Club

If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

Quantico Shooting Club

Just read a thread mentioned this club - I had no idea it was there till I read the post and then went to their website. I'm interested in checking out every place there is to shoot in Northern Virginia and have already been to a few:
Blue Ridge Arsenal, Chantilly
NRA Hdtrs, Fairfax
Clarke Brothers, Warrenton
Sharpshooters (formally Gilberts), Lorton
Cresap Rifle Club, Frederick, MD.
Silver Eagle, Ashburn (did not shoot, just visited)

Quantico looks huge! And with 300, 600 and a 1,000 yard range, FINALLY a place to do some serious long distance target practice.

Is anyone here a member of QSC, or at least visited the place? What do you think of it? Good and bad points? Is it worth $80.00 / year? Aren't there aditional fees each time you go?

If no one has been there a while I'm willing to go check it out and give a report back on my findings.

Yes.

When we do long range work and have people working the pits, then yes we pay them for the service as it lets us get much more shooting done.

+/- 's
Rifles are shot from the prone position. ( bring a shooting mat)
The ranges are the Marines first. We get second place if a conflict comes up.
Ranges are only open when there are RSOs. Not all ranges are open all days.
All NFA items are prohibited, no SBRs/supressors.
Caliber restrictions. Not all ranges allow all types/kinds of ammo. If you are shooting exotic calibers you might not be able to use them. Last I knew of all the soviet block ammo is still prohibited.

If you are not shooting the military calibers that the ranges are rated for .223/308/.50 9x19/45 acp there can be some debate as to the use of certain rounds on certain ranges. Also all NFA items are prohibited.

Is it worth $80.00 / year?

There is _NOTHING_ like this range in the area at any price.

Keep in mind, this is a military range, on a military base, and is run as such. If you are unable, or unwilling to comply with fixed non-negotiable rules then this is not the place to shoot.

Thanks for the info! I think for now I'll keep an eye on the calendar and try to get down there one day soon.
