Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13Chasbo00 and I are shooting in the 6-7pm IDPA match at Silver Eagle Group on Monday, September 13. I know there are a few others on this forum that shoot IDPA at SEG. So what about some grub afterward? And, of course, this is not limited to match participants... if you happen to be throwing lead down range, shopping for your next zombie threat elimination device, or just in the area then you are welcome to.
It looks like there is a Five Guys, an Anita's Mexican, and a couple of other choices for food right up the road. Suggestions welcomed from those that know the area better than I. We'll meet at SEG just after 7pm. I'll be the one wearing a blue VCDL cap.
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13I live in the area. The only resaurant I know of that is OC friendly is Buffalo Wing Factory in Sterling - about 15 minutes from SEG but it is HORRIBLE to get to and very limited parking & eating space. There is another one in Ashburn (about 10 minutes in the opposit direction) that is MUCH nicer.
5Guys are usually OC friendly, I have no idea about Anitas. So, if you like, I can check into the BWF in Ashburn and see if they are 2A OK and let you know. I will also query Anitas. Proud Navy Dad
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13Rich, that would be great. I've been to the BWF in Sterling, and I agree that it is a bit of a pain. I didn't know there was one in Ashburn.
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13Kool idea. I'm in the 6-7 squad too! Looks like we're gonna have some fun.
Grub afterwards sounds good. I'll keep an eye out here for the details. ![]()
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13What are the IDPA matches at SEG like? What are the requirements? Cost?
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13
Cost is $25. Unfortunately, they look all booked up now. Last time I shot at SEG was in Jan, but I can't imagine it is any different than any other IDPA match. You just need a concealment holster (doesn't have to be IWB, just one that would reasonably conceal your gun), a covering garment (the concealment), two mag holders (no more than two on your belt is allowed), and a gun (.38spl and above for revolvers, 9mm and above for pistols). One thing I don't know is if SEG requires you to be an IDPA member. I joined IDPA so it has never been an issue for me. Some ranges make it a requirement, some don't.

Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13Maybe you can find a restaurant with this on the menu...

Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13Is the entire place take up with IDPA, or can those of us not shooting the match do recreational fire on another part of the range?
Never been there, don't know how they range(s) are setup.
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13
They have 3 ranges. Last time I shot there, the IDPA match took the middle range only. I doubt they'd let it take more than that, nor does the number of registered slots indicate they would need more than one range. So if you wanted to shoot on the other ranges, that's doable.
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13With SEG closing for 'rennovation' on the 7th are the matches and the M&G still on?
Rule #18: It's better to seek forgiveness than ask permission.
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13I just called them and was told that they still intend to hold the IDPA match. So I think we are still on.
Any word on the restaurants?
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13Yes.
As you said Five Guys is always a sure bet. Buffalo Wing Factory (either location) are welcoming. I e-mailed the president of Anita's (Tommy Tellez) and asked him to alert his Ashburn staff that we might be visitng them - that we do this as a courtesy, expecially with a first time visit of a large OC group, so folks aren't caught off guard. HIs response was interesting;
So, I sent him the link to the VASP site & a brief rundown on the laws (elevator pitch). That was 8/28 and so far have no response. So, I'm thinking Five guys - it's close and a known entity. Proud Navy Dad

Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13Uhh... first he's heard of it. I'm told that by co-workers that a group of bikers use to finish of their weekend touring at the Anita's in Chantilly, and that group use to always OC (probably because CC on a motorcycle is a pain).
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13Just a reminder...
SEG is under going renovations... so I don't know what the means for shooting on the other ranges. However, they assured me that the IDPA match was still a go. Because of the renovations, I'm also not sure if we will be able to meet in the lobby at 7. We may have to congregate in the parking lot. I vote for Five Guys, btw.
Re: Meet & Greet After IDPA at Silver Eagle 9/13Five Guys sounds good to me.
