Anyone want to bird hunt close to Alexandria?

A place to trade stories, pictures and outings. If you're looking for a place to hunt, ask here. Please discuss camping here as well as anything else that you do during hunting season - preparations, scouting, etc.

Anyone want to bird hunt close to Alexandria?

Hello

I will be in Alexandria for the Thanksgiving week and weekend. Would love to get my dog on some grouse/quail or anything for that matter. I am not going to do any shooting myself...just photos...as I dont want to purchase an out of state license for one day in the field. If anyone wants to hunt over my dog (E. setter) let me know Just want to get out and have us both get some exercise. Any reccommendations for public land with birds close by will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmmm.............. if you go out and handle the dog, even if you aren't carrying a gun, you need to check and be sure you aren't considered to be hunting. I'm not sure, but in the dim, foggy back corners of my mind, it seems to me I've heard something
somewhere that makes me think you may be.

My Arsenal:
I don't think it's a good idea to put that online. WHO KNOWS who's checking? I love big-caliber and longe-range rifles and 1911 pistols, and I've got a few.

Next Firearm:
I can always use another 1911.

Thanks for the tip. I'll contact the rangers. Just may end up having to go the preserve route. Would much rather get on some wild birds though.
