Taurus PT709B review/range report

Have to say that I was a little skeptical about this little gun. I have always heard that taurus semi autos have been quirky, some being good and some being really bad. I have to say that I like this little gun. It is very light weight and easy to fit in a IWB holster (Still waiting for my CHP before going in public that way)This little gun fits nicely in the hands and I don't have small hands I wear 8.5 surgical gloves. This gun seems to be well made, i mean you get what you pay for at this price point you can't expect it to have features that are on a gun worth twice as much.
Now to the range or in my case the back yard. As far as shooting, so far I've shot a box of Winchester and Remington 115gr with no issues at all. I will say it is a little snappy, but not so that you can't put multiple shots on target very quickly. My range is set up with 15 and 30 foot stations. At 15 feet I practiced drawing and double tapping two controlled shots and repeating this through each magazine. I was shooting inch or less groups. All seemed to be low and to the left. After adjusting the sights I was hitting dead nuts on. At 30 feet I did the same as at 15 and was getting 2-3 inch groups, which I thought was not bad for such a small gun with a 3 inch barrel. After doing a little research I found a video about replacing the front sight with a fiber optic sight and I have to say this was a great modification. It decreases the time it takes to pick up the front sight and gives a better sight picture. I plan on putting another 100 rounds through it this weekend, but so far I would recommend this gun to anyone looking for an inexpensive CCW.

I like mine. Just got it last week and so far I've been pleased. Very comfortable for carry and features a pretty good feel when fired. I put a few rounds through it last weekend at the range and was very happy with the performance.

Agree...its a nice little pistol for the money. LIke you I was a bit skeptical but looks like we both got good ones. I have no complaints. Very compact and easy to carry. Plus... I really like the trigger.

I discovered that my rear sight could was damaged and could not be properly adjusted (bought the gun used). I called Taurus up and they are sending out a replacement free of charge, even though I wasn't the original owner.

Sure, it's a small part, but little gestures like that go a long way in my book!

Looking forward to when I can dial those sights in!
