Info on New S&W M&P22

Postby jetster » Tue, 01 Feb 2011 00:06:01

I'm a new member. Here is my first post. Hope it's helpful to the 22LR crowd.

I talked to S&W Service Rep today. They did not know the date of availability of the M&P22 but said to check back from time to time. Hmmm. Anyway, I was able to verify the following: .22LR, striker fired, single action, one grip size-not interchangeable, rail, threaded barrel like the Walther--need adapter most likely, 12+1 version (SKU 222000 order number) and a 10+1 version, 24 oz. weight, and the M&P22 is manufactured by Walther, Germany. Check out the link to the 2011 promo on S&W stuff that was produced for the 2011 Shot Show. The M&P22 is on page 9!

The other day I was talking to someone at Virginia Arms (my favorite store along with Clark Bros.) and the fellow said he handled the new M&P22 at the shot show and was impressed by it. Liked the trigger. We'll see. Maybe this will help solve my problem deciding between the Walther P22 and the Sig Mosquito and all the other ones that seem to be consistently inconsistent.
