Does the H&K P9S lock back when empty?

Postby ShortMan » Wed, 01 Feb 2012 06:56:45

Searched the forum, couldnt find this info. Searched the internet, nobody states one way or the other.

Watched Sleeping With The Enemy last night, Julia Roberts pumps Patrick Bergin full of lead. Slide goes forward, she drops the gun when she thinks he's dead.
Of course he jumps back up for another scare, grabs the gun, points at head and *CLICK*.
Empty. He dies a minute later.

Should he have had an empty weapon? Or was it a misfire you think?

imfd.org identified it as the H&K P9S and I have no reason to think otherwise.

:hysterical:

this Sleeping with the Enemy sounds like a very bad idea... Seriously, discussing a comprehensive list of all the things Hollywood gets wrong about firearms by mistake, through poor editing, or through artistic license would be a monumental chore... and would probably require its own topic board. Never having to reload, guns that make noises they don't normally make (foley artists adding in extra cocking sounds for a semi auto, so the audience gets an audio clue that someone "is getting serious" or might shoot), guns that change configuration and/or condition between edits, one shot stops every.single.time, slides that never lock back because the director thinks that makes the gun "look funny", impossible shots, all the gun handling gaffes... not to mention simple continuity errors, like the actor starting off with a revolver and ending up with a semi-auto. Really, the list would be nearly endless.

OK, I guess I didnt make ANYTHING clear when I created this thread.

My question in the title was: Does the H&K P9S lock back when empty?
And so far nobody can confirm or deny. I didnt ask a question about the movie. I already know what the movie contains.
I was asking a question about the gun.

The reason I thought it might is my LCP does not lock back on an empty magazine and I was wonder which other guns operate the same way.
