Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?OK you experienced folks, help us beginners out.
How do you carry, and what are your best tips to prevent making it obvious to others that you have a weapon on you? I've been trying an IWB holster, but unless I play with placement and wear a nice dark polo that is partially untucked (to create what you might call 'fabric spill-over' to partially hide my belt area) I worry that the odd bend in my belt and the asymmetrical look at my hip just screams "GUN!!!" What tips can you all provide? FYI: I carry a Taurus PT709 Slim 9mm. Kotar
Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?I use a De Santis "Tuck This" holster that let's me tuck in my shirt between the holster and belt clip. Works really well.
Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?IN summer I OC to avoid the hassle,,,In other times I prefer a shoulder rig or open top paddle holster at 4 o Clock with adjustable cant... Occasionally I do use a SOB (small of the back) holster ,, Being just about horizontal it sits pretty well hidden behind a Tee Shirt...

Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips? Also remember, we are in Virginia. Many open carry without a problem.

Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?
+1 Examine if you really need/want to carry concealed. All but 2 of the more than 20 people I know who regularly carry (daily or close to it), do so openly - including myself; all but 1 without issue (Dan Moore lol) Sic semper tyrannis
Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?
At the very least, you don't have to worry about someone seeing it. If they can see it is legal OC in VA, if they can't it is legal CC (if you have a permit). Not all states are as forgiving, but you have to love it.
Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?Kholster at 4-5 o'clock. I can wear t-shirts with good concealment. If I put on a button down short sleeve (not tucked) or say a polo which is not too flimsy (not tucked), then I have no problem. Also, my shirts are fitted in the sense that they are not baggy or really loose.
Kholster is basically a inexpensive super-tuck. See another forum link (which I need to update). My friend loves the OWB holster for comfort during summer time.
Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?Depends on how I decide to dress...
For shorts, t-shirt, and sandals I either stick a .25 auto in a pocket or carry a .380 in an IWB at 4 oclock. Sometimes I slip the .380 in a pocket. For jeans, t-shirt an IWB in .380, 9mm, or .45 depending on where I'm going and why. No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?Check out the cell-pal deep concealment holster. I don't use one but plan to get one eventually. I carry with a in the waist ban in the small of my back for concealed and a black hawk sherpa for open carry.

Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?I'm with OakRidgeShooter. After taking his advice & working on the leather a bit, I find the super tuck to be comfy even on hot days. I will say that I slightly modified mine - I moved the washer that was between the leather & the S-Clip so that it was on top of the S-clip. Now, everything stays put, but the holster is still easy to remove.
Buy your shirts one size big & buy pants/shorts with elastic waste bands. Proud Navy Dad
Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?Kaos - I don't get a senior citizen discount yet, so I'll stay away from elastic waistbands. I'll just buy my jeans 2" too large (or larger) and have the tailor take 'em in where needed. Gotta look good for the ladies.

Fill me in on your reasons on saving my money. Is this not all that the videos say it is?
Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?
I haven't seen the videos, but I carried one for about a year. It was the pager pal, the father of the cell phone pal. Requires 2 hands to draw. The ones that you see at the gun show that jump out of your pants have had the leather so broken in that its not funny. I laugh every time the sales guy flips that gun out and people ooohh and ahhh. Look at rocketman IWB holsters. I love mine. ![]() http://www.ProactiveShooters.com NRA Certified Instructor Utah State Certified Instructor NRA Membership Recruiter NRA RTBAV Instructor NRA Range Safety Officer "Make your gun go to work, and carry every day!"
Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?Elastic waist bands - look at the 5.11 pants & shorts. They have elastic and you don't need to be a member of AARP to get them.

Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?As far as concealment goes you could try the ol' tried and true photographers vest...might be some elastic in that though
