Was this Legal?

Postby MWhiteDesigns » Wed, 18 Jan 2012 15:52:07

Don't know why I'm thinking about this now. It seems that there are a good amount of knowledgable people along with LEO's here and maybe I'm just looking for an opinon of clarification.

Last year, my roomate and I got into a fight. Words were exchanged and he decided that phsyical violence was the way to resolve it. Him being 6'8 and my 6'1 he obviously thought he had the upper hand. Hits me two or three times before I could pull my hands out of my jean pockets, I sweep his leg, drop him to the ground and lock his arm. Problem solved. He gets back up, kicks over the dining room table, picks up a chair and starts swinging it at my head. By this time I am laughing. He was so out of control. He was shaking, his lips turned purple, spit flying out of his mouth when he was talking. It was ridiculous.

About a week later, i decide to speak to him again and the fight comes up. I told him that he had no self control. I said " if there was a knife on the table, i wouldn't have put it past you to pick it up and try to stab me with it" he laughed. Almost to say, yea your probably right.

Another week passes, he goes back to Washington state to visit family. A friend and his brother over, one roomate and myself were all in the back room playing ping pong and watching a movie. My friend knocks his drink over so he goes to get some paper towels from the kitchen when he hears a knock on the door. He looks out and sees a plaing dressed man standing there with a cap on. He opens the door to get grabbed and dragged out into the yard. He is then put into cuffs and he looks up to whitness 4 officers, with guns drawn, tac lights on and in tactical gear ( no helmets) running through the front yard and into the house. All meanwhile yelling your not allowed to go in there! His brother comes running into the back room and tells me there are officers in the house, i laugh and walk into the hallway, with ping pong paddle still in hand to find a gun with a tac light point in my face telling me to drop the paddle and put my hands on the wall. The first thing i thought of was my dog was going to run away so i pointed to the door and asked them to shut it. Apparently bad idea as i get slammed against the wall. They keep asking me how many people are at the house. Over and over again i tell them 4, but I don't know where my friend is, little do i know is in the front yard cuffed throwing a fit . The srgt arrives maybe 15 minutes later and apologizes saying that it was a mistake. Someone had called 911, stating that someone whitnessed two grown men fighting in the front yard and one of them got stabbed. They said they spoke to all my neighbors and they didnt see anything.

The next day after work, i went to my surround neighbors to apologize for the comotion as i had no clue what the heck was happening and wanted to ask if the officers gave them any more information than they gave me. ALL of them said they hadn't spoken to any police officer. WTF??

my question is, was what they did legal? I was speaking to someone recently and they said i should have pressed charges. I was so shocked and confused, i never thought to gather the information of the officers involved.

What are you throughts?

In a country where cops have this:

I'm pretty sure "legal" is whatever they say it is.

And yes, that is a .50 cal machinegun.

Richland county South Carolina must be a freakin warzone....or a police state. My guess is the latter.
So rattle my bones all over the stones, I'm only a beggar-man whom nobody owns. Oh, see how words as old as sin, fit me like a glove.

I'm here and here I'll stay.

if you want legal advice, I'd suggest a lawyer. Anything you post here, in public, may hurt your case.

If there was a week's delay, it could have just been a 911 pranking.

I don't think it's a good idea to put that online. WHO KNOWS who's checking? I love big-caliber and longe-range rifles and 1911 pistols, and I've got a few.

Next Firearm:
I can always use another 1911.

Not really looking to go anywhere legally with it. Just looking for other peoples opnions on the situation.

Yes, but you may not be the only one on offense, here. You still need to think about whether SOMEONE ELSE may want to " go somewhere legal with it", and use your online statements against you or a third party.
