Re: NY Times front page article slams concealed carry ownersSometimes criminals do bad things. Sometimes criminals manage to get government-issued permission slips to carry guns.
They are criminals either way. This article fails to make that distinction - quite on purpose, no doubt. And the newest slavery is to keep the people poor, and stupid. Novus Ordo Seclorum
Re: NY Times front page article slams concealed carry ownersWell, if somebody wants to write a letter to the editor, my bet iss that if you researched the percent of NC CHP holders convicted of crimes and the same number for NY City cops, you could write a real zinger.

Re: NY Times front page article slams concealed carry owners
The article is very poorly done. It gives numbers of cwp holders who commit crimes but never gives corrisponding numbers to non cwp holders nor does it use percentages. By not giving anything to compare the numbers to they are irrelivent. The articles quote above also displays one of the problems of what they are proposing. They want to create more laws and more stringent laws, however they state that criminal element doesn't abide by the current laws inacted. What makes them believe the criminals will abide by any new laws. Also the article admits that from the studies done neither more crime or less crime is an outcome of more laws. My view of this article is the same as most liberal propaganda. It pulls poop from their ass and says their view is the correct view.. USMC 1981-2001 Semper Fi

Re: NY Times front page article slams concealed carry ownersNeither recent nor previously unknown, this two year old story (at press time) hardly qualifies as NEWS. I really don't think it qualifies as serious writing, but apparently a lot of New Yorkers do.
Re: NY Times front page article slams concealed carry owners
The numbers are quite relevant to the agenda at hand. The point of the writing is to instill a fear of guns and of gun owners. Sadly, there are those who will take this article, and others like it, at face value. Just like there will always be criminals, there will, also, be people who believe everything that they read. Re: NY Times front page article slams concealed carry ownersHere is a nice blog entry debunking the NYT's article.
Basically, the NYT has devolved into a far left-wing outlet for hand-wringing progressives. This article is so poorly constructed, it is pretty easy to destroy it - if you're able to think critically and analytically. Unfortunately, too many people these days lack that ability. "[The swords of the militia], and every terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American."
Re: NY Times front page article slams concealed carry ownersNYT is more of a landlord than a newspaper. They own alot of square footage in Manhattan. If anything rent and creative accounting will keep their company afloat, God knows it doesn't have enough subscribers or stock value.
So rattle my bones all over the stones, I'm only a beggar-man whom nobody owns. Oh, see how words as old as sin, fit me like a glove.
I'm here and here I'll stay.
Re: NY Times front page article slams concealed carry ownersThis is pretty much what I've come to expect from the Fishwrap of Record.
