Definitely 5 of 5 ![]() Of course it is in the last place you looked, your not going to keep looking for something after you've found it.

Re: The greatest gun salesman in AmericaIf he wins a second term we're going back to huge price spikes on all firearms and ammo shortages. Buy now, sell later! Shame so many gun companies are privately held and thus you can't buy their stock. Most(all?) are owned by family or private equity firms. Does anyone know of any publicly traded gun companies?

Re: The greatest gun salesman in AmericaSomething is a little fishy about these two numbers:
4 Billion combined size of the US Commercial Gun and Ammo market 4.35 Billion combined collection of taxes I know the Feds would love to be able to do it, but how you do you tax a market over 100% of what it makes and still have the market continue to produce??? ![]()
Re: The greatest gun salesman in AmericaFirst, a question: Where can I get a long slide 1911 with a nine inch barrel?
Second, an addition to the information. A couple of weeks ago I ran the Concealed Handgun License numbers for Ohio looking at the number of new licenses issued each quarter. The rate over doubled after the end of 2008 and has stayed at that level ever since. Not just a "spike" in licenses issued after Nov. 2008. Here's the graph: (Note: Ohio started issuing CHLs April 8, 2004.) Two things are noticeable to me: 1. There was an obvious "flattening" of the graph in 2008. Examination of the data shows that the number of CHL renewals in 2008 did not keep up with the number of 2004 licenses that would have expired. Approximately 14,000 CHLs were not renewed. 2. More interesting is the change in the slope of the graph at around that time. The first 14 quarters show an average gain in CHL holders of 5711 per quarter and the last 12 quarters show a growth rate of 11,840 licensees per quarter. OVER DOUBLE! AlanM

Re: The greatest gun salesman in America
Ruger and Smith & Wesson Holding Company. You might throw in ATK and General Dynamics.

Re: The greatest gun salesman in AmericaHey Oakridge I didn't want to post your whole comment but do you have any other info besides the NRA thing? I'm sure it is pretty high in number but would like more that just the say of a company that makes a profit from the 2nd Amendment. Now I'm sure some people are going to be angry about me saying that but you have to see it that yes the NRA started out to help protect the people with firearms but has become another company to profit from that. So that's why I ask. Would love to have third party data to show the same thing, and would then give us more data to show that people with guns aren't bad or there would be allot more gun related deaths.
So just a thought by me in looking at this post. Also do believe that if this a@@-clown is re-elected gun and ammo prices will jump again. Charles [url="http://www.signaturebar.com/"]

Re: The greatest gun salesman in AmericaI just reposted the picture from another site. I can't attest to the accuracy of the numbers, just that the POTUS has contributed more to the U.S. firearms market than anyone else that's held that office.
I expect that we will see another spike in demand as the November elections grow closer. “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” — Edmund Burke
Re: The greatest gun salesman in America
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I feel compelled to play the Devil's Advocate, here. You do realize that the NRA is a NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, don't you? T'ain't quite fair to characterize them along with the money-hungry profiteers of this world who trash the economy and ecology while taking government bailouts, it seems to me. (Of course, I'm talking about people like Solyndra here.) The NRA is a long way from perfect, and falls victim, as all large organizations do, to the urge to propagate the organization. This is generally only a really bad thing when such organizations continue to exist after they have fullfilled their purpose and/or ignore the interests of their members/supporters in order to pursue those of the organization's insiders and/or managers. But there is plenty of reason to continue to have the NRA around and active; BHO being chief among them. Even if you think they are S.O.B.s, you have to bear in mind that they are OUR S.O.B.s. We've talked about this before on this forum. Lobbying organizations are in some ways distasteful, but unless you have one looking after your vital interests in Washington, no damn body else will do so. Like my ole Daddy used to say: "When you're in hell, you better get you a pitchfork for a weapon."On a more practical note, I doubt that anyone but the NRA, whatever trade organizations gun manufacturers might have, and the federal government would collect such statistics. Seems to me that of those three, the NRA is probably the most reliable source. JMPO.
