So, many moons ago the hosting company I was working for got a frantic call one week before the Super Bowl. A benefactor had given the organization a gift of 2 x 30 second slots in the broadcast; at the beginning of the third & fourth quarter. The previous year was the SB where all the high-tech web firms brought some real creativity to the commercials including Victoria's Secret which almost shut the web down with their live simu-cast. We learned A LOT about ad placement in the Super Bowl.
The worst slots to purchase are anything between the end of the second half the beginning of the actual half time show, the time after the show until play begins and the end of the 3rd quarter. Actually, prices (back then anyway) dropped precipitously after the end of the 3rd. Why? Everyone's off on bio-breaks, getting the next beer/plate of wings/etc. So, the Bloomberg spot was the worst for viewership. Oh, those slots are also the ones where local channels/markets can opt out and run local ads.
So, here's the good news: MAIG probably spent $1MM on an ad slot that reached about 5,002 eyeballs. At that ROI they'll be broke by XLVIII.

But, how many ears were reached subliminally? That's what concerns me. The human brain picks up on everything around it, whether there is a conscious recognition of it, or not. The problem with picking up messages subliminally is that there is no chance to consciously apply thought and reason to them.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Looks to me like VCDL (or somebody) should be marshalling their members in those cities to raise all kinds of hell. Maybe file a FOIA request for any expenditures of city funds in connection with those memberships; or any other gun-control related activities. Then start generating some heat about this inappropriate expenditure of public funds. Be nice if some of those guys sent in a contribution for that Superbowl ad that ran only in a small part of the state.

I don't think it's a good idea to put that online. WHO KNOWS who's checking? I love big-caliber and longe-range rifles and 1911 pistols, and I've got a few.

I can always use another 1911.
