I'll miss you. I reckon you're already jammin' with Merle...

Re: RIP - Doc WatsonMay you rest in peace Doc
Here is some of my favorite songs that he picked Heaven will shine a little bit brighter now that Doc sings for the Lord God "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
Thomas Jefferson
Re: RIP - Doc Watson
I'm thinking that Doc is for sure picking in heaven now - I've heard he could do some gospel too. I have always remembered the blind man playing on King St. in Boone - (showing my age now). It was years before my Dad told it was Doc. He was the first blind person I ever saw. I saw him playing for tips - probably to supplement his income. He began to get recognized and make a living with his music just after that, around the time my family moved to Virginia. I grew up on a small mountain farm several miles from Doc's home in Deep Gap. Some of my extended family, including my great-grandmother lived a mile or two from Doc. In later years on US 421 you look up at part of Doc's farm from the highway. I think relatives told me the town of Boone put up a statue of him on King St. He will be sorely missed as a musician and a great person also. I feel sad because I'm getting older and Doc's passing makes me the peace of the mountains The mountain folk still love you Doc. I Love This Country! It's The Government That Scares The Hell Outta Me!
Re: RIP - Doc WatsonClassic Doc - great stuff...
...and his influence reaches around the world...RIP, Doc. "A democracy is two wolves and a small lamb voting on what to have for dinner. Freedom under a constitutional republic is a well armed lamb contesting the vote."
