Psychology in the School Lunch Line

Postby zephyp » Tue, 12 Oct 2010 15:43:46

Schools are trying a new tactic to try to get kids to eat healthy...psychology...yep, you heard it here first. They plan to hide chocolate milk behind the regular milk, put fruit in pretty baskets, salad bar near the checkout stand, and if you buy a dessert you must pay in cash... :hysterical:

School Cafeteria Scene 1:

"Hey Billy," Dick said. "Did you see they hid the chocolate milk behind the regular milk?"

"Yeah," replied Billy. "I saw it. I'll drink this low fat stuff instead. Hey, make sure you leave plenty of room on your tray. The salad bar is over by the cash registers now."

"Ooh! Look at those pretty baskets. Let's load up on fruit," Dick exclaimed brightly.

"Yes sir," Billy chimed. He smiled brightly as he grabbed an apple and an orange. "Since we have to spend cash on regular dessert, I'm going to save the $10 Dad gave me this morning."

"$10!" Dick smirked. "That's a lot of money. Whatcha going to buy?"

Billy frowned as he glanced sideways at Dick.

"A Captain Socialist comic book. What else?"

It kills me that anyone really thinks the obesity epidemic in this country is somehow stemming from the school lunchline. FSM forbid anyone try some of this "psychology" at home.

Hmmm. I believe I once saw on No Reservations (any other foodies here?) that what he is eating there is a traditional Kenyan delicacy. I do not approve the obvious lack of bacon, however. :hysterical:

I blame obesity on Cookie Monster. I'm sure glad that PBS has made it so that Cookie Monster eats fruits and vegetables now (not always, but sometimes) so that kids don't think that they can live on a diet of cookies like he used to.

It's apparent that Cookie Monster isn't happy about any of it. "He Want Cookie!"

School Cafeteria Scene 2: (3 years later)

Billy Bob knew he was taking a big chance bringing the candy to school, but so far it had been quite profitable. There were still several kids he trusted and they would gladly hand over their lunch money for a candy bar. And the girls! When he thought about the last encounter with Mary it made bright lights pop inside his skull. He grinned and wondered where she was. He checked his bag to make sure the zippers were closed and hefted it over his shoulder.

"Hey Billy Bob, where ya goin with that bag?" a sweet voiced crooned from behind him.

Billy Bob smiled and turned around. The girl was a little shorter than him with long brown hair cascading around her shoulders. His gaze stopped at her chest.

"Hey handsome. I'm up here," she chirped.

He tore his gaze from her bulging sweater and looked into her face. A new girl! And beautiful at that. This had to be his lucky day.

She moved a little closer and he could smell a faint odor of perfume.

"I hear you sell candy," she whispered.

Billy bob just stared.

"Hey," she said and moved a little closer. "Candy?"

"Yes," Billy Bob stammered and unslung his bag. "In here," he groaned as he slid the zipper down watching as a Snickers bar fell onto the hallway floor.

The girl smiled evilly as he quickly bent to snatch the candy bar.

Somewhere overhead a speaker crackled..."Thank you Jane. You can report to the office now. Well done."

Billy looked up in horror as he heard the unmistakable sound of boots clicking down the hall...

And now the FDA weighs in touting $2M of our tax dollars for studies to come up with lame ideas like hiding chocolate milk behind regular milk. Btw, I do believe that posts on public government sites can be quoted in their entirety without fear of violating copyright laws or being sued by Righthaven... :hysterical:
