Prices @ Gun Shows

Postby taadz » Wed, 25 Jan 2012 08:42:16

Good Morning,

Just curious if people find that they do find deal's on new guns at local gun shows, as opposed to online or local purchase? I'm looking to purchase a S&W M&P 15-22 MOE version and found about an $80.00 difference between local resellers (NOVA area) and online. I don't mind paying a little more to walk in, see the weapon and buy locally. I'm in no hurry, and see the Nations Gun Show is in Chantilly Feb 10th. and thought I post this question.

Scott.

In my experience buying used from private sellers gives the best price.

Online is second best.

Gun shows/gun dealers worst price.

Bets bet is to try and find private sellers at gun shows.
So rattle my bones all over the stones, I'm only a beggar-man whom nobody owns. Oh, see how words as old as sin, fit me like a glove.

I'm here and here I'll stay.

I've got great deals at gun shows. The last was a SIG 1911 tacpac NIB for $819. Great price on an even greater gun. That was two fredericksburg shows ago from a local dealer. I've also seen a lot of dealers who are more interested in making top dollar than moving product. In those cases, I leave with nothing but have a good time looking and handling while they paid their fees for the booth and didn't get a sale. It pays to know what you can get something for before you strike up a deal and resist impulse buys. The best thing ever is a smart phone where if you see something that strikes your fancy you have the world at your finger tips to research it before you talk turkey.

Guns shows are also a great place to locate HTF old guns if your into that sorta thing.... which I am.

Three booths have good pricing. Trader Jerry's, Dark Sun, and DK firearms. All three are below MSRP, and Dark Sun also has police trade-ins. DK is good for RIA 1911s, and sells S&Ws for way under retail. Next Chantilly show, I'm going for C&Rs, but these three are good for a lot of stuff, cheap.
