I received this from my Mike Huckabee fan club email. It's a sales pitch for a video series, and VGOF doen't make anything off of them. I just think it's a neat idea. I haven't purchased or viewed the videos. Just passing it along in case anyone is interested. FYI - I find his use of the word "assassination" in reference to OBL a little strange...but I digress... Happy New Year! As we ring in the new year, weâre reminded that yet another year is history and weâre given a chance to reflect on all thatâs happened over the past 12 months. And what a 12 months itâs been! Between a Navy Sealâs assassination of Osama Bin Laden, the toppling and killing of Gadhafi by his own people, a Royal Wedding, the Occupy Wall Street movement, and a horrendous earthquake and tsunami in Japan, there was plenty happening to keep the headlines coming throughout all of 2011. On a personal level, it was a year of great accomplishments for me. First, I became a grandfather. I also had the opportunity to co-found a new childrenâs education company, Learn Our History, and turn a lifelong dream of inspiring youngsters to understand and appreciate our nationâs rich pastâ into reality. After we launched the company in May, it quickly became evident that parents everywhere have been craving a tool just like Learn Our History. Iâm thrilled to say that Learn Our History videos have already helped thousands of families by providing fun, educational content that kids actually want to watch! ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************ Thanks for passing it on. I did take the time to go to Mike Huckabee's site where I read all the claims, and watched all the video clips. I also asked a couple of friends who majored in history for their assessment. If anyone wants to line the pockets of Mike Huckabee's group have at it, but don't expect anything but a most superficial and highly biased view of American history. How do I know it's highly biased? Because they tell you so in the FAQ. They refer to American History as taught in every school system in the U.S. to be based on a philosophy they call "blame America first". Next they say, their video series is unbiased American history. One thing is certain, if you have to say it isn't biased, you know it is. Finally, they talk about all the new historical "facts" your child will learn thereby exposing a fallacy in their thinking about history. This idea that historians are simply conduits for historical facts is a chief historians fallacy. History is much more than a collections of facts, and historians are much more than scribes who organize these facts. Good history begins with questions and underlying assumptions. The entire foundation for this series are the assumptions that current U.S. history is unacceptable because it's biased and reflects a blame America first view. Neither assumption is discussed, or supported in any way. Let's take the Christopher Columbus video clip example. In the Columbus DVD how many facts are recounted in a few minutes, and how many are omitted. Necessarily most of the facts we know about Columbus are omitted. Aside from his campaign to secure funding, Columbus made 4 trips to the New World. There are thousands and thousands of facts associated with the Columbus story, yet the DVD focus is on a few facts. What can we conclude? That there is a selective view of Columbus that portrays the hero, or the bad guy and either way, it's all superficial. Personally I would not waste my money, your public library is a much better option. Gat6

A "Complement" is a term that is indicative of one thing completing another. I believe the word you were looking for was "Compliment". Please don't attempt to read anything complimentary about anything that I said. Goading me and everyone else in this forum at every turn is getting tiresome, to say the least. Maybe you should go find someplace else to hang out.
