A group has placed motion activated cameras along the border to document the massive flood of illegal aliens that still continue to cross our border at will. DHS head Janet Napolitano would have you believe that the flow of illegal aliens into this country has slowed, but just because she says it is true does not make it so.

3-4 bucks a pop, can seed an entire square mile for a fraction of the cost of a useless fence.

Now, let's get serious with this question. You've got to look at what motivates all those people to cross the border like that. They see all this money in the United States, look at their own situation, and say, "hey, I can make way more coin up there than down here, heck yeah I'm goin' for that!" The *chief* motivator is a shot at a much better paying job. That's why there's such a flood and thus why you can't just "round 'em up".

Therefore, the chief problem is solved by ensuring that jobs here go to only those who are legally here. To do that, you don't go after the illegals themselves (that simply doesn't work). You go after the EMPLOYERS. I'm referring especially to the executives and other senior managers who allow the hiring of illegal aliens. Throw them in jail (not "Club Fed", I mean the same kind of jail cell you and I would end up in after conviction of a crime), and furthermore, fine the company very high dollar per incident--that means per illegal alien employed--and I guarantee you, these companies will get back in line in a hurry. I propose a fine of $150,000 per incident for first offenses, with it increasing by that same amount for subsequent offenses.

Do this, and the jobs will dry up in a hurry, and the illegals will have no further motivation to stay or come here illegally. "Free" health care or not, if you can't get a job and make money, you're not going to eat and you're not going to be able to afford shelter. That's a very powerful motivator. The illegal immigration will drop to a trickle.

Now, I'm all for immigration. I love the fact that our country is so great that everyone wants to come here and very few want to leave. I just want it to be done legally.

Having a backbone is the best way to deal with the problem.

CowboyT, I couldn't agree with you more. Take their easy job sources, take their easy welfare programs, take their will away. If it's no better for illegals here, there's no reason to risk detention or death from a sour coyote.IMHO, that is. I know of some illegals here in Va. and it makes my stomach turn because alot of good family men have lost jobs due to employers working more people for less pay. I say tax and fine the hell out of anyone, not just employers who hires and maintains an illegal from any country. Didn't the INS just bust a restaurant chain in Washington for having illegals working in there stores? Just that chain alone would certainly help our current debt in this country if they had to pay real fines! Food for thought.

I was being serious.

Put a BP agent every 100 yards on the fence with an M60. Find a President with a set of stones. Make an announcement to the Mexican (et al) people.

"If you attempt to enter the country illegally by an unlawful border crossing, you will be fired upon". Period.

I'm all for people being lawfully admitted to the US like my ancestors did. Do it the right way and reap the rewards of US citizenship. Sneak in, and you will be dealt with accordingly.

We watch Border War occasionally on NatGeo (or whichever channel), and that is exactly what my 16yr old son says we should do. That and snipers every click or so.

I'm with proshooter; I was being serious. Landmines are cheap, never sleep, and we have major stockpile of them.

Last I checked they were designed to defend a fixed line against ground invasion....like a border for instance.

Brutal? Not really. When you choose to enter el campo de minas you really should know what to expect. After a few casualties(less than die of dehydration now) they'd stop.

I've said it before...all these jobless Americans bitching about unemployment need to head down to the local 7-11 and be first in line when El Jeffe comes along and out bid the other "workers." Make sure the boss knows they will do it for less and better. Start this as a fad around the country and see how quickly they leave...like speedy gonzales...heppa heppa...and, for those out there that say the wages are too low...consider this...tax free...and you need a job...as a bonus, you do a service to your country.
