H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot? Now, before you think that this is one of those "tin-foil-hat wearing, the guvibment's gonna inject me with their evil drugs" kind of thread, let me say that I don't subscribe to that hooey.
That being said, will you or your family rush out and get the latest vaccine for the H1N1 Swine flu?. Do you get a flu shot every time the bug-of-the-year comes around?. For me, I've never had a flu shot. Ever. But then I've never had the flu. There seems to be more hype than facts with this flu season, but there has been more hype than facts coming out of the current administration too. Maybe this is just par for the course. Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?I, like you have never had a flu shot or the flu, so no I do not plan to get the H1N1 vacination.

Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?I'm 50 and have probably had 5 flu shots in my life other than ones that were mandatory while on active duty many years ago. I occasionally get the flu or a cold but nothing severe. It's been several years since I've had a flu shot and I do not plan on getting one this year and most especially NOT the swine flu shot.
I also do not wear a tin-foil hat but this one does not smell right for several reasons. Normally it takes several months to develop and produce the seasonal flu vaccine and thats for the regular flu virus that is well known in labs. Supposedly H1N1 (actually I prefer swine flu) is a brand new virus. I've taken enough bio-chem courses to know that these things must first be isolated and analyzed before you can even consider a vaccine. Add that time to the time normally required to produce a vaccine and it doesnt add up. This one has been done far too quick and is being pushed through the system by people I do not trust to begin with. While others are lining up for the shot, perhaps I should shop for tin-foil... Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?I for one will not take it and I am 63. My wife is 60 and won't take it and she has great doubt's about the ability of the gov't to be able to come up with a vacanation in such a short time and say's that it can't be checked out completly. With her 40 year's of Nursing as a Emergency Room Nurse I do have a tendency to follow her lead.

Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot? The flu shot is for strains of flu that are already around, not the ones that are going to infect us next week or next month.
Had one shot like that in my life (ready) doc said I couldn’t leave the office without one. Should have sued his ass back to the flu stone age. Same doc that said severe trauma or in my case torn ligaments and tendons will not cause your blood pressure to go up. Never been back to that (quack) sob. Back to the question, no.

Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?To follow up on Bill's comment these boneheads are testing this stuff now on children which I consider heinous. Btw, tests on children were their first choice. What is wrong with these people? I know, a rhetorical question.

Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?I and my family, by direction of our family doctor, do not do flu shots...and i will certainly not be ginea pigging myself out for the lastest cocktail the gov't has come up with...
Our family doctor says states that childhood vacines are pretty well tried and true, over generations, and we have "some" understanding of thier effects and effiecy , but for the yearly "anti-flu" concoctions developed by drug companies, that are already chasing the money, (which comparitively, they make very little off of vacines, which he says is actually worse as they do not do the same testing and trials as the margins are far less than a regualrly prescribed compounds) ethics and indivual health become secondary to the health of the masses, and that "one offs" for bad reactions and death are usually pretty much ignored. And as he pointed out, a "one off" for an indiviual is the whole enchilada.... He said to, instead wield common sense with reckless abandon, wash your hands, eat a balanced diet, and get plently of sleep...and stay away from sick people, especially at work (rolls his eyes and makes a goofy face and maks the "DUUUHHHH" sound.) ...AND, when I ran into our Doc buying a 6 pack of Busch beer at the 7-11 (this was years ago now) I knew he was the man for us...very real..open...and direct and honest...requirements for his role in our lives...for a younger guy, he is a real down home family doc... on top of that, i have to admit, I can get really edgy when ever anyone comes at me with something sharp and pointed...huh!?! Lucky and Blessed...a potent combo... have a great day everyone!!! Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready. Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help. _________________________________________________
Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?Considering how little value this administration puts on the elderly, I would have expected them to test the H1N1 vaccines on them.

Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?I took the things when I was required to by the military. I've not taken them since and not had the flu either. They guess at what strain of flu will be prevalent each year and design the shots to combat those strains, it may or may not work depending on what strains actually appear.
Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?Btw, I've read several articles about protecting yourself in addition to all the common sense things like hand washing and avoiding sick people.
I've seen several write ups that recommend doses of a daily vitamin PLUS vitamin C and D to boost your immune system. Since I am not a doctor I recommend you do a little browsing of your own and discuss this with your family doctor. Young and I are taking daily multi-vitamins plus extra C and D. We've also got zinc lozenges on hand if symptoms appear. Young is a barber so she has very close daily contact with a wide range of folks. - many are youngsters. We're not taking the shot but are trying to be prepared. No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?To follow up on what DK said. The point of staying away from sick people may or may not be right. Concider that my wife work's in the Hospital Emergency Room and is 60 years old HAS NEVER had a flu shot and never had the flu, altho she is in contact with people with it all the time.

Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?Could be she's built up a natural immunity.
IMO this whole H1N1 thing stinks...where's that tin foil hat I made... ![]() No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?i definitely will not be taking something that has been "rushed." after hearing about numerous stories on how this vaccine contains certain toxins linked to certain diseases, i think ive found the reason FEMA has had to stock up on as many as 500k temporary coffins. hopefully this doesnt become a real life "I Am Legend," except this isnt a cure for cancer, its to prevent H1N1
Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?Seeing all those containers stacked up reminds me of the thousands of RV trailers that FEMA purchased after Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana.
My point is that the feds tend to get a little carried away when they do something like this. I say that these containers, or whatever they are, will get about as much use as those trailers are now. In any case, it's an interesting video. Last edited by OakRidgeStars on Sat, 29 Aug 2009 12:54:55, edited 1 time in total.

Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?Sure the 1 is not an I ?
Had one flue shot in my life and got sick as you know what. I recommend wash your hands often and use a glove when pumping gas and don't shake hands during the flu season and try not to kiss all to many strangers. ![]() Proud Member VVA, VCDL, NRA
Re: H1N1: Will you take the swine flu shot?In my office, we have hand sanitizer in wall mount dispensers placed in bathrooms and break rooms. A little bit of that stuff goes a long way to killing those nasty little buggers.
