Doesn't he ever give CC a rest.

He must be trying to raise a little interest prior to elections or increase his readership. His remarks as usual are inaccurate and slanted toward the bizzare,,, Especailly his comment about CHP holders going nuts and killing someone with regularity,,He doesn't mention that nearly all of those shootings are in self defense and 100% legal. Also not mentioned arethe gun bills that were shelved in committee using rule breaking tactic by the State Senate. THe good Senators used their proxies while standing in the hall and not even listening to the bills as they were read. I guess that doesn;t count for Mr Casey. One bill in particular that they did pass was IMHO meant to punish potential CHP holders before they even get one..SB501 sponsored by Miss Lucas ushered in a law that counted out of state DUI;s against an applicant where in the past it did not..That one I think is The nose under the tent for the General Assembly to start having all manner of out of state violations hinder gun rights,,, Mr Casey writes in hte one sided style of the media that has forgotten the truth and aligned themselves with only reporting what they can distort and alarm with,,,A cheap shot taker who needs a good dose of reality and maybe a reread of the Constitution for good measure.,

Well, with all the talk of camel parts in that article, I'm a little let down that he didn't let camel toe slip. :hysterical:

But, seriously, he's an opinion piece columnist. Most of them are just hacks pandering to a particular audience. Just smile and wave, smile and wave...

I don't pay a bit of attention to that. We have one here in our little town like that. Nobody pays attention to him, either.
Lord, please protect us today from having to use deadly force.

So the antis are realizing we are using their strategy against them? How do you think all of those gun laws got made in the first place?

This is shoddy reporting. In regards to CC in restaurants/bars - surely he is aware that state law allows a person to consume with a pistol on their hip in plain view. He neglected to mention this and does readers a disservice.

It's also important to remember that this isn't reporting, at all. It's an opinion piece. It's not news. It's not objective. It's not meant to be news.

Yes, but it is so hard to tell the difference because "real" news pieces read much like that.

Oh, I know. Garbage sells, though. I'm amazed what makes the 'news' these days.

I find it interesting that Mr. Casey provides no examples of CHP holders "going nuts and killing someone". Could it be because it simply does not happen?

CHP holders are not the people that one reads about going on these rampages. To the contrary, these are the people that have demonstrated that they are, in fact, trustworthy individuals.

Well, it happens (the recent Hopkins hospital shooting in Baltimore comes to mind, and from what I recall the shooter was a CHP holder), but statistically the number is very, very, very, very small. I believe it's less than one one hundreth of the population of people which hold CHPs (I forget the actual number / percentage). You're probably more likely to be hit by lightning than to be shot by a nutty CHP holder.

Dan Casey, those who share his views, and those who approve of his yellow journalism should be rounded up and dealt with like our forefathers did with snake oil salesmen. They are a blight on our society and pose a threat to our way of life and the legacy we hope to leave our heirs. Our media was originally envisioned as a means to educate the people and make sure they were aware of crucial issues affecting their rights. Thomas Jefferson spoke many times about the importance of the printed word and newspaper. Using the term loosely, journalists like Mr. Casey forsake the sacred duty of assisting we the people with our resistance to a tyrannous government and the infringement of our rights. If Mr. Casey desires to assault our Constitutional right to bear arms, then let him do so as a private citizen. In that context he can exercise freedom of speech and express views of his choosing, but let not the sacred duty of a newsman be further sullied. The responsibility of the media equals that of our legislators and educators alike. It is shameful that most who hold these positions hostage are treasonous to the cause of freedom.
