CLP, what's the joke?OK guys, educate me. What's the big deal about CLP and why all the tongue in cheek jokes?
Re: CLP, what's the joke?I think it's a military acronym for "Clean, Lubricate, Preserve" which is a product that is issued to soldiers for their duty weapons and just so happens to turn into a compound not unlike old rubber cement.
That's my theory anyway. Hypothesis may be a better word. And the newest slavery is to keep the people poor, and stupid. Novus Ordo Seclorum
Re: CLP, what's the joke?"Clean, Lubricate, Preserve"
when applied to anything Government...is funny Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready. Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help. _________________________________________________
Re: CLP, what's the joke?CLP does mean Clean, Lubricate, Preserve, or a variation of those words. It doesn't turn into a compound like rubber cement though, what you see in it that looks like kinda like white rubber cement is teflon, shake it up and it should mix with the oil. Theory is that as you clean and oil a film of teflon will build up and keep eveything lubed.
Not really any joke, we were just giving mnmiller7 a hard time because he asked whether he could use CLP on his Taurus PT145 like he does his M16. Guess he was concerned that the CLP might damage the polymer receiver of the Taurus, there are plenty of polymer parts on an M16 and it hasn't damaged them. I think somewhere in that thread there was also mention that he had been told he could use break-free but not CLP, Break-Free is CLP so someone was feeding him a line of crap. We also touched on LSA (that's gun oil for you Navy guys) and I think RBC (that's like Hoppe's #9 for you Navy guys) which were replaced by CLP (that's break-free for whoever told mnmiller7 not to use CLP). handguns/using-clp-for-semi-auto-handgun-t1655.html

Re: CLP, what's the joke?
It's actually an elaborate hoax created by the Members of VGOF to fool you and make you post this thread. Congratulations you WON.

Re: CLP, what's the joke?Actually the 1st 2 things I think when I hear "gubbimint" is Clean and Lube.
So they should issue the Army CL.
Re: CLP, what's the joke? Why clean? When it comes to the government all you need is the lube, and you really don't need that.
Re: CLP, what's the joke?
See my post in the other thread. I hear they are also going to issue CLP to the medical corp. Standardization... ![]() No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...
