Keeping our streets safe from college girls buying bottled water. Nice job, ABC.

"My goal throughout this case has been to reach a resolution that is just and fair for all parties, including Ms. Daly, the ABC and its agents, and the Commonwealth and its taxpayers," Herring said. "After careful consideration of the potentially significant costs of taking this case to trial, I believe we have reached such an outcome."

If any of those agents still have a job, the settlement isn't "fair" and it's of no benefit to the taxpayers.

Exactly. I despise that LEO - whether or not they really are - can hide behind their shield. They should be personally responsible. Why do OUR tax dollars go to bailing THEIR asses out?

Protecting LEOs from liability on falsely accused crimes is one thing, but when the LEOS BLATANTLY didn't do enough verification before doing that? Yeeeeahhh.

Herring said the settlement was not an admission of wrongdoing by any of the parties in the lawsuit.

Atty Gen Mark Herring wrote:"My goal throughout this case has been to reach a resolution that is just and fair for all parties, including Ms. Daly, the ABC and its agents, and the Commonwealth and its taxpayers," Herring said. "After careful consideration of the potentially significant costs of taking this case to trial, I believe we have reached such an outcome."

What a bunch of crap. Indicating that they settled instead of going to court because of "the potentially significant costs of taking this case to trial" is cowardly. Just admit that the agents were acting like a bunch of commandos on a raid in Kandahar, and that their gusto was way above and beyond that which the situation required. - even if she had purchased beer!

Purchased beer? That was probably a little over aggressive had she stolen beer.

I almost wish that this had gone to court, if only to drag it out a bit to keep it in the news, which would keep it in the public mind a while longer.
