I got to wondering what the additional states were that a Utah non-resident permit provides beyond a VA permit, so I looked them up on Handgunlaw.us: Alabama, Georgia, Minnesota and Washington are the states I came up with.

That is correct. Georgia is the big one for folks traveling to Florida, since every state between Va and Fl accepts the Va resident permit with the exception of Georgia.

The nice thing also is that someone can take our Utah class and use that one class to apply for Va and Utah's permits.

Also, Pennsylvania non-resident permits have to be obtained in person according to their new issuance system.

I understand that the Centre County Sheriff's Office is still accepting applications by mail. Apparently, the new state-wide system that requires one to actually apply in person for scanning purposes still has a few kinks. This could change at anytime though. So, anyone thinking of applying for a PA permit by mail should act quickly.

Sheriff nau has said that until the kinks are worked outr of the new system, he'll continue to issue by mail and in person. I would imagine that the kinks will be worked out quickly though, so don't expect the mail in option to remain in effect for a long time.
