New C&R - Good customer service from BATFE

Postby wpoppert » Fri, 11 Feb 2011 15:13:24

I just received my new C&R license in the mail two days ago. Only one problem -- they spelled my name wrong! I sent an e-mail to the address listed on the license early yesterday morning to ask how to get it fixed, but as of this morning had not seen a response. I decided to call to follow up. The person to whom I spoke was friendly and helpful, and informed me that they had already made the correction and that my new license went out in today's mail.
Break - Aside from Century and SOG, does anyone have any other suggestions for sources of C&R guns?

I saw good and BATFE and now sit here stunned with my jaw on the floor! Haha just kidding with you. Make sure to show off you new purchase on the forum when you get it!

I've ordered several guns from J&G in the past and always had good experiences. I've surfed the sites on the other two but have bought there yet. Do they offer any discount from their posted prices? I know that some places, e.g., Century, won't even show you the prices until they have a copy of your license.

I was pleasantly surprised! I have had to deal with the State Department and the IRS (THEY owed ME) in recent years, and had to get my congressman involved just to get them to respond. BATFE was prompt and courteous. As for the purchase, I am thinking maybe SKS -- I don't have a 7.62x39 yet, and it is a gaping hole in my holdings.

Thanks! I forgot about Samco -- I have a lot of sites bookmarked, but theirs wasn't one of them -- it is now!

Don't forget Midway and Brownells - not for guns, but they'll give you dealer pricing on accessories and whatnot. Big discounts for some things.

 OK, maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't really found any deals better than what I could already get at J&G without the C&R. I suppose I'm at least saving the FFL fees, but now that I have accounts established with some of the folks who require you to have a license before they'll sell anything to you, I'm finding that their prices aren't any better. I was hoping to find a great deal somewhere on a Russian or Yugo SKS. Not that I won't buy one anyway, but it looks like I won't get the deal I had been hoping for...

Made my first purchase with my new C&R -- a 1944 Izhevsk Mosin-Nagant M44. Pics to follow!

OK, finally got around to the picture. I guess I never specified when they follow, so technically I wasn't late.
