Browning Auto5 16 gauge

Postby noffy » Wed, 17 Feb 2010 22:22:03

I had a question about my grandfathers shoutgun that was given down to me and I tried just about everything on the internet. Well I called up Browning to see if they could check a serial number for me that was on the shotgun and I found out that it was shipped on August 1st, 1947 and made in Belguim. The guy I spoke to was very knowledgeable and friendly. I was told that he was the "historian" at Browning. Glad to know something that will be in the family for another 60+ years.

Wow! I have a similar shotgun left to me when my grandfather died. It is the Browning sweet 16 with gold trigger. The internet has been NO help in determining age or value.

What number did you call and who did you talk to you?

Many thanks.

The number is 800-333-3288 and the guy to ask for is Glenn Jensen. Good Luck.

krmgator, the best source I've found for the info you are looking for is a site called shotgunworld.com. Check it out and I'll bet you will have all the info you need in no time. The members and mods there really know their stuff. One of my favorite sites. It took me no time to find out the info I needed on my grandfather's browning A5.
Why wouldn't you hold up the targets for me? It's a 9mm.

That is a good place to start. I tried the Browning site first but my serial number wasn't on the list. My serial number was only 5 numbers long and wasn't in between the listed numbers on the site. At that point I tried different websites and without having to join numerous sites to get a possible answer that is when I decided to go straight to the source.
