Started at River Bend and hiked to Great Falls. Pretty nice hike. Couldn't go into the visitor center at Great Falls (National Park). It was clearly posted. I think I lost a few pounds in sweat!! Hope eveyone had a great Independence Day! Sic Semper Tyrannis

Re: Hiking with my CHPcool. i've taken the kids fishing at riverbend, and carry there as well. all but once it was enjoyable.
on our last trip, we got 'pushed out' by a group of young men of latin persuasion. too bad, we had our spot, they came to a spot down stream, fine, closer than i would've like, but kept encroaching. finally crossing lines on casts. i'm a pale faced (legal) latin, and am fluent, so could hear what they were saying - of the 6 of them 4 were drinking, only 2 had poles. once they crossed lines and told us to "look out", i had it. let them know (in english) they were being rude, and should learn some manners. my 3 and 5 yrs old were visibly upset. the best course of action was to avoid confrontation, so we packed up, and had the fun walk past them on the trail back towards the parking lot. after safety, i was most concerned my kids weren't scarred by the event, so all i did was let them know it was time to go and we'd be back when there was more space. the 4 drinkers and 1 caster were definitely sizing us up, one caster was uncomfortable by the whole thing but too much of a weakling to speak up or out, he just looked away and pretended it wasn't happening. we walked by without issue, besides the stares and "what do you think?" questions to each other in spanish. On the CCW/CHL front, i was glad I was going to be able to deter an attack by superior numbers if necessary, and have no doubt the additional confidence and assuredness of the self protection literally at hand played a role in deterrence.
Re: Hiking with my CHPThink they would have been so anxious to size you up for an attack had you been carrying your gun openly?

Re: Hiking with my CHPhmm, good question.
it may have stopped the encroachment, or not, who knows if they were thinking about what they were doing.
Re: Hiking with my CHPThat really pisses me off! You know quite a few years back in Arlington VA, I was visiting someone that lived in an apartment building where many El Salvadoreans and Mexicans lived. I drove a Chevy S-10 back then. I parked the truck in a parking space and went inside for less than 1 hour. As I came back outside, I saw that two cars were blocking me in the space. After inquiry, I discovered they belonged to hispanic men drinking beer on top of a small hill across from the building. I walked up the hill and asked them to move their cars, and they simply laughed and kept drinking. I repeated that I needed the cars moved so I could get my truck out. One man said, Yeah yeah yeah, someone will come move in a little while, ok? So I walked down the hill got in my truck and started backing up in to their cars. I pushed my bumper up against the grill of one car and pushed it about 3 feet before they all came running down the hill. I climbed out and grabbed a tire iron from behind the seat and stood there watching them. They were whistling and yelling at me, but noone dared engage! They moved one car and I left on my way. They are some ignorant, cocky, low class central american ghetto trash that hang out in these locations drinking until they build up that latin machisimo bravado! And they wonder why most of Central America and Mexico is such a mess!
Re: Hiking with my CHP@Tim - I'm with ya. There is a "hispanic" house a couple of doors down. One of 3 on the block. Two of the 3 houses are well kept and quiet. The third not. I havent caught them in the act yet but I have begun to find beer cans and the red party cups strewn up and down the street and sometimes at the curb in front of my house. I'm considering a web cam...

Re: Hiking with my CHPSee this is why certain member call use racists. They read the last couple of posts and focus on how you're not liking or happy with "Hispanics."
I think the truth of the matter is that we are angry at their actions, not their race. It could have been white trash in any of these cases. It could have been blacks. It could have been Arabs. Asians. Etc. Etc. The anger is at actions, not race. The race is just a descriptor...just like how zephyp noted the cups were red.
Re: Hiking with my CHPIts river bend around Scott's run? I have been looking for new fishing spots recently. What do you guys usually catch there?
Re: Hiking with my CHP
As a matter of fact we took a closer look today after I noticed some other goings on. They aint hispanics. They look like young white thugs. My mistake. Oh, yeah almost forget -- down with whitey. They all bad...call me racist now... ![]() No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

Aren't you a cracker? ![]()
Re: Hiking with my CHP
Yup at least for the most part. Thats why I said call me racist now. My great great grandmother was a Creek Indian way down in Alabamy. And, since I'm now missing several teeth due to recent dental surgery I suppose you could call me a toothless gun toting hillbilly lazy government employee redneck racist cracker... ![]() No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...
