CHP Permit

Open Carry and Concealed Carry. Where did you carry today?

CHP Permit

Postby bcskeeper » Tue, 16 Mar 2010 18:27:16

Just got my permit back in the mail and was surprised it was a flimsy piece of paper...do they send a more durable plastic one at a later date?

If not...is it ok to laminate, to preserve the life of the paper?

So this flimsy piece of paper is the final permit?

My friend in SC they give them a more durable plastic...similar to a Drivers license.

Any good print shop should be able to laminate for you in 10 minutes for under five bucks.

Flimsy piece of paper is as good as it gets as VA CHP's go. Unless you get it laminated (which I would highly recommend). Then you have a flimsy laminated piece of paper - and that's *really* as good as it gets.

Congrats!!

When I went and picked mine up at the courthouse, they actually had me sign it, and then took it back to laminate it for me... Doesn't get much better than that!

The first time I got my CHP, the clerk laminated it for me, no charge. When I got my renewal, no lamination. I went to Staples and had it laminated for $1.00.

Indeed. In Fairfax county permits usually take 44.999 days to receive...I dont remember exactly how long it took mine. About 5 weeks I think.

Seeing as how it's harder to get a CHP than it is a drivers license and it costs more, you would think it would come laminated and with a picture but it comes as a flimsy piece of paper. I laminated mine with a sheet I got at Staples but next time I'll take it to the gun show and have it done. Congrats on getting your permit!
