@Jim - the time to wake up is long gone...that was waaaay back whenever legislators passed the first law protecting themselves from being tarred and feathered. Now you cant hardly even yell at one without fear of being arrested. And now people are starting to wake up and realize its kinda like the Matrix. Within the law we have only a couple of options...(1) exercise freedom of speech (1a) peaceable assembly and (1b) redress of grievances to the government...the aforementioned options only work when it suits the legislators and their agenda. (2) Vote...option 2 works only when the candidate we truly want elected gets the office AND executes OUR agenda...rarely happens. Moreover when we vote we vote for the candidate of their choice not ours and even if it is someone we really like and want to see elected they rarely live up to our standards or agenda. And, if they do they are ultimately replaced by a twit or moron.
So, we be back to wishing we could tar and feather them but thats illegal. Some will say, well why dont you run for congress. Ok, with the current system and rules (laws) I'll need several million dollars and if I want to run on the party ticket in most states I'll need one of the good ole boys to endorse me. If I run as a third party candidate then fat chance getting elected. The best I can hope for is skew the election for someone else.
I could go on but unless the Tea Party delivers and more of them and independents are elected then we're basically screwed and at the mercy of the government. And a fat chance on that with the ever increasing flow of immigrants who for the most part vote for the leftists.
To answer your other questions -- our Constitution has been under assault for quite some time and so the same for the oath I swore. And, IMHO the "enough" time was probably when the Federal Reserve Act was passed back in 1913 (IIRC). The people should have hit the streets then but I dont think anyone understood or perhaps cared about the consequences. Funny you mention Kennedy...he went after the Fed and IMHO got killed for doing so.
So, ask anyone...almost literally anyone "what can we do" and they will most likely say vote em out. That my friend is tried every 2,4, and 6 years and has been going on for a long long time. And IMHO under the current system its an epic failure and a non starter.
Now, there are alot of things that can be done to fix things but those things can only be accomplished by the school kids and twits over in DC....dont hold your breath...

Fight the urge my friend, fight it1
